We love Shades Valley Community Church and the West Homewood Farmers Market they host in their parking lot. The area feels safe and family friendly. The people are very nice and laid back. It feels like a genuine community that welcomes everyone. The building itself is eclectic and humble with a rustic farmhouse style. No need to dress up for this church and there’s no carpet to damage so bring your coffee into the service area. Pastor Jonathan is passionate about Christ, living people well and researches his messages well. Popped in for Sunday service while I'm visiting and had a really joyful experience. You can tell that this community is full of love and support for each other. Very special-needs friendly! I consider myself a believer and I am a regular churchgoer. As such, I don’t know how they are ok charging for parking on their giant, unused parking lot instead of sharing with neighbors. Sure, put an arm up and limit usage to certain days of the week. But I visited on a weekday evening and the church was empty. There’s no reason they can’t share their lot instead of charging money for something they don’t need every night of the week, People over profit. Don’t sit at the tables Jesus flipped. Rethink your lot. Such a fun, spirit filled church. Very welcoming. Family oriented, but has a large 20 something crowd in the late service. Pastor is so well versed in the word and it's original Greek and Hebrew, he sights so much scripture aside from the one that he is teaching from. Biblically sound. Super welcoming church with a contemporary service. No social posturing here, just friendly folks who accept everyone.
