What visitors say
We lived in the east valley for a few years searching for a church that loves God, takes scripture seriously, and loves all His people. The first Sunday I visited I came with just my daughter. The worship and message were good - but the people. Oh my gosh, the people of Antioch were so loving and kind. We started attending in late 2019 and drove 35 minutes one way to go because it was just that good. We found our friendships and activities were all closer to the church, so we actually moved in 2021 to be closer. Best decision ever! Wonderful church. Antioch has a deep heart to make sure we are following Jesus and pursuing him wholeheartedly. I grew up in a more conservative church with solid theology and I love how Pastor Travis always makes sure we go back to the Word to build our foundation. Antioch does a fantastic job of building community through life groups to make sure life-on-life discipleship is happening, which is SO necessary for every Christian in their walk with the Lord. We cannot do this life alone, as Paul clearly states over and over again in scriptures. I am glad to be a part of a body of believers that want to know God personally, and make Him known. Leadership is clear and passionate about making sure our congregation builds a deep, healthy relationship with the Lord. I have been here for almost 4 years now and my relationship with God has flourished. I would not be where I am today without God and this community. A word to those seeking a church- no church will ever be perfect- if you think you found one then please recognize that we all are on a journey with God on the path to righteousness; nobody is perfect, and no body of believers will be either. Aim to get involved with a church that is working towards being more and more like Jesus. A church with open hands, who has made Jesus Lord, and is ready to be refined by Christ. I see that happening here at Antioch, a place where we can walk this road together and pursue a deep, healthy relationship with the Lord. Beautiful church and property. The people were so welcoming. I really hate feeling the need to write this review, but I feel that I have an obligation to those who are searching for a new church and have stumbled upon this one. A warning, specifically to incoming/current college students: myself and several others spent many years of their life as a part of this organization, only to become outcasts for questioning some of the theologies of this church. I started going to this church in my first week of my freshman year at ASU, and was awestruck by the community and purpose they could provide me. Unfortunately it was only surface deep, and I was one of many who blindly walked into their culture. I am still recovering and taking time to retrace my views because of this church’s teachings and how they handled myself and many others asking questions. And that’s all it was: we asked questions, and our church leaders and friends refused to listen or answer. They merely asked if we believed their theology, and if we didn’t, we were discarded. Please, take everything you hear with a grain of salt, and match it to the Bible (with real and true context). Ask other leaders of churches with seminary experience about the things you learn here. Read through Matthew 7. If myself and others had done so when we started attending Antioch, we may not have had to endure the difficulties we have had to. Some have had to go to counseling, many of us are having difficulties trusting the church again as we search for a new church home. 1 John 4:1 (ESV): “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” *I would also like to add that there was a time when leadership asked church members and student leaders to write a five star review on the different review platforms. That is not the case for all reviews, but many of them. I do not recommend this church if you are Black. There are no Blacks Go There. Maybe a handful. The congregation do not make you feel welcome at all. They look at you strange. Then you have young adults jumping over the pews to sit down. Instead of saying excuse me and walking around the person to sit down. Then you have young adults running around with no shoes on in the sanctiury. I was shocked. Being that I have been saved over 37 years to see this. When I wanted to become a member. We went to some ownership class. Antioch does not believe in membership of the church. They believe in ownership. I attended some outside fellowship dinners at some of the people homes. But you get grilled on your background. Very not okay. Anyway. The Lord showed me where he wants me to attend. And I am at that church now.
