What visitors say

Roosevelt Community Church is a true gem of a church in Phoenix! My husband and I were first drawn to Roosevelt because it’s in the heart of DTPHX and truly exemplifies the diversity that so many other spaces strive for. This church lives out their motto of “All People, All of Jesus.” There’s diversity in socioeconomics, ages, life stages, race, political belief, spiritual maturity, and more. But the leadership do not waver on the truth of the Bible and are willing to discuss tough topics, which can be rare nowadays. We are thankful to have found a family through Roosevelt! We have attended RCC on several occasions when visiting our daughter and son-in-law who live in the area. The music and sermons are amazing and the fellowship that has been extended to us has been extremely welcoming and we have been extremely impressed with their community outreach to benefit those less fortunate. The people at this church truly represent what it is to be a Christian. This organization gave me the most inhospitable introduction I have ever received from a group calling itself a church. I attempted to attend a worship service a few weeks ago but was kicked out just for being just 35 minutes early, which is not an unreasonable amount of time to arrive beforehand. I was hoping to interact and fellowship with others before the service started, but instead I was told to get out and come back exactly when the service started because I wasn't a member. So, if you are not yet a member, either be extraordinarily punctual or expect your pre-service interaction to be with someone ordering you to leave. (To be completely transparent, I did interact with one pleasant fellow before this occurred. However, he appeared to be a member but not in leadership or in an authority position. Once someone in leadership or with authority arrived, I was told to leave.) I have not attended church here and now I most likely never will. I turned into the parking lot, thinking that it was parking for the Churchill as the sign said church parking and it’s directly across from the entrance to the Churchill, and was immediately stopped and yelled at by the “security guard”. When I asked him if this was the parking for the Churchill, he asked me if I could read while pointing at the sign. I asked if I could pull in to turn around to leave, he said “just move you’re blocking everybody”, when the only reason I hadn’t moved yet was because he was standing in my way. I understand the frustration, as I’m sure this had happened a few times that day, but his response was unwarranted and rude for a situation that could have been handled with a simple “no, sorry”. I paid to park in the church parking lot. By time I left, my parking had been expired for 43 minutes (I was the only car left in the empty lot). I attempted to pay for the 43 minutes on the app but was unable to do so. I then received a parking violation for $85 for the 43 minutes. I disputed with the Roosevelt Community Church offering to pay the fair rate for the 43 minutes which would be $7. The church denied the offer and instead demanded $115 or I could be sent to collections and my car impounded. This church is after money and not what is right. Very disappointing from a holy institution.
