What visitors say

Incredibly grateful to find a church that fully stands rooted in Jesus’s principals and what he believes in. Grateful to have found this church and its welcoming congregation. Mathew 22:35-40 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Don’t ever reserve the sanctuary here. I paid a deposit, called to confirm two days before my event. No one showed up to let me in. I had 50 people there for a piano recital. This is the second time this has happened. I called and left messages, nothing! If you stand for everything you'll fall for anything. There are not "many ways up the mountain" He is the way the truth and the life. Coming to Arizona, I was nervous I wouldn't find a church that was welcoming to me and my identity. But SCUCC has been more friendly and accepting than ever and I feel completely safe there. Shout out to the members there for making me feel like I can be myself in a place of worship when so many places make me feel like I can't be both queer and belong in a church. Truthfully, I've been to one service here many, many, many moons ago. I understand it's a very inclusive place. What it is more known for is hosting jazz concerts EVERY Thursday night in their large community room! For a $6 entry fee, come listen and gyrate to a wide variety of jazz artists, some nationally recognized, some regional, and some local. ALL types of jazz have performed here on a small elevated stage. Coffee and small deserts are available for low cost. You may also bring in your dinner! Seating is at large round tables for 8-10. Overflow seating is on chairs around the edges of the room. Plan on getting there at least 30 minutes prior to start for a seat...more for really popular groups. Tonight, We3 is playing, a popular local group, so I'm going early. Another thing this church is noted for is that it is home to the Scottsdale Neighborhood Arts Place (S.N.A.P.). Run by Lisa, the former classroom wing next to the church houses 6 classrooms that are rented out to dance classes, language learning, artists, energy healers, drumming groups, and a whole range of people and events. I used to teach drawing classes here. I also used it for a one-time introductory event for our trip to Cuba. If you are interested in renting a room for a reasonable fee, contact Lisa on the S.N.A.P. website or the link to it from the church website.
