This church has caused and continues to cause unbelievable amounts of harm to countless strong believers in the area. The problem stems from the very top down into most of the pastoral leadership and some of the staff. Compass has time and again prioritized image, money, and status over actually shepherding their congregation in a biblical and loving way. The lack of love- specifically from the pastors here- is painfully evident. Even more so when you are on the receiving end of sinful behavior at the hands of leadership. Great community can be found here, but one is immediately cut off if one dares to share how they were treated by leadership. The issues here are so serious that most other local Christian pastors are not only very aware of the problems, but frequently discuss them amongst themselves to try to best serve the poor souls that are fleeing from Compass to their churches for refuge. There are also disturbing issues with the biblical counseling program here. Expect your information to not be kept confidential at the very least. There is also a great lack of any accountability at the top of leadership here. No lay elders. Everyone who is an elder here is on the payroll and ultimately answers to one man. This model is not only dangerous for both the church and the man, but is also unbiblical. The culture here dares not question this man, but instead almost worships him. In an era of mega churches and social media chasing pastors, do not aim to follow and exalt one man. Instead, aim to follow and exalt Christ. There are some of the finest Christian men and women at this Church. I had the pleasure of meeting Joseph, who’s in charge of much of the music there. He could not have been nicer to work with. He takes a genuine and sincere interest in the kids who learn about God, and music as a form of praise. Good people expressing Christly character. 🙏🏻 Pastor Mike’s verse by verse in depth preaching has grown mine and my husband’s faith immensely! Even though we have moved out of state, we continue to listen to his sermons and other theology series as often as we can and are always convicted and inspired to live out our walk with Christ better! Expository teaching is over the top amazing and life changing. I tell everyone Compass is a preview of Heaven and they really are my extended family. We really care for one another ❤️If you want a church that propels your sanctification to a new level this is the church for you😊 I listen to the Compass Bible Church radio program called, “Focal Point” on the app and on 107.9 KMBI FM Spokane. I was blessed to be able to attend a National Equipped Conference in Boise a couple of years ago. I am currently watching and listening to the 2024 conference on YouTube and have been greatly encouraged. May the Lord continue to bless and keep Pastor Mike and his solid Bible teaching.
