What visitors say

The people at this church are HORRIBLE. They are not Christ-like. They turn people away who try to pray. I understand having a dress code but even Jesus wouldn’t turn somebody away trying to pray to the lord. Who are these HUMAN BEINGS to say we can’t go in? I had one incident that I went here and I wore jeans with no rips and a nice sweater and the guard stopped me at the door saying that I couldn’t go in and when I asked why, he said “as a woman wearing pants, god doesn’t love you and you don’t love god” like what??? And then today I wore a long dress with short sleeves. When I went up to communion, the security covered my shoulders bc “the priest didn’t want my shoulders showing” even though I was wearing a short sleeve and they were covered. Then our family and I had to leave the mass early so we left right after communion. My entire family was able to leave but I got stopped at the door by the guard. And all they said that I needed to wait a moment and I kept asking why. Finally another security came and said I needed to finish the host before leaving the church. And I said of course I finished it but why was I the only one who got stopped. All they said was that I needed to finish the host before leaving but I know I was already on their radar bc of my sleeves. All to say is, this is not a godly church. And they have upside down crosses inside the church. These people are evil DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CHURCH UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE CRITICIZED AND HUMILIATED!!! From Texas, I listened to Fr.'s sermon on Lent on YouTube and really helped me. Thank you Fr. We have ears to hear ....but just the way he explained all this very morning, it was the way that touched my whole being. Thank you Fr. Going to church sote to see if I can get a copy of the handout. Cynthia Croal Texas It is a great 2000 years since the Pentecost Day traditional Roman Catholic Church blessed and loved by God. The first time we went to this Church was in 2020. We were pleasantly surprised on how traditional it was. The women wears veils and men should be wearing collared shirts inside the Church. The Priest welcomed us graciously even if it was in the midst of the pandemic. We were informed that they usually hold a traditional Latin Mass. It was gratifying to still see a Church which hold fast to old Catholic traditions. In America, this is very rare. This year was heartbreaking. We felt looked down at and was embarassed. What happened was, Our Lady of the Angels Church was one of the 14 Churches we visited for our Visita Iglesia. Unfortunately, our male companion was wearing pants that was cut to be just below the knee. The Pontifical guard like security immediately blocked the door and asked where we are going. We said we are going to pray in one of the station of the crosses. He and (another man in black suit) looked at our male companion and us before sneering condescendingly saying 'ugh, well we have a dress code here, and you're inappropriately dressed wearing shorts and everyone is about to go out and we're closing the church'. We pleaded to just have a few minutes to pray. They let my daughter and I in but not my daughter's dad. We completely understand if they do have a dress code and we respect that. We also respect if they are executing these traditions quite stearnly specially to those who are not a congregant of their Church but can't it be done in a way where you won't make people feel bad and embarassed. We have been to Churches in France, Italy, Spain, Austria, etc and some are also traditional ones, but none, none of the lay ministers or pastoral workers were this rude and judgemental. They were all respectful and pleasant. If we cannot do something inside of the church like take pictures, they would explain nicely and sometimes apologetically. We would still understand and comply either way. We are not uneducated people. They really made us feel like we are not welcome. They looked at us from head to toe making us feel like we were not dressed at all (as if we were wearing mini skirts or tank tops). Watching us intently while we prayed. You might be surprised that the one you were judging that day has done more good deeds to other people than you have ever done your whole life. It's unfortunate that these kind of people are one of the main reasons that a lot of Catholics are losing their faith and does not want to go to Church anymore. If I would need help from the Church and this is the only Church in our area, I would think twice before I reach out for help because I would feel that I will be turned away. The Church is infallible and it is most of the time some of it's members that are usually ruining it for the Church... and this is a great example. So as not to offend anyone by our looks or the way we dress or by our presence, although it breaks our hearts, we will try not to visit this particular Church anymore. Turn us away if you must but please be nice about it and be good Christians. Do not judge others by the clothes that they wear or how they look, and if you do read the Bible... try to understand the true message it teaches. ~9/13/23~THE POINT IS: IF YOU ARE ENFORCING SOMETHING, BE KIND, TRY NOT TO BELITTLE PEOPLE. Get off your high horses and lower yourselves to other faithfuls who are not familiar with what you are enforcing. For a solemn, beautiful Latin mass, go to St. Andrew's in Pasadena specially on Sunday mornings. The choir is exeptional too. Our love to Our Lady of the Angels. May Her light guide you. After over 50 years of being disconnected from the Catholic Church, I attended Our Lady of Los Angeles Church, just a block from my home. At age 81, I went to Palm Sunday Mass and participated in confession and communion—the first time in 70 years. Though I chose to dress in a business casual way, I was impressed by the ushers’ attentiveness, recognizing my use of a walker and cane. The only issue I encountered was the inconvenient parking for people with disabilities. Despite this, I am proud to have joined this vibrant church community, where the warmth and support of the members have comforted and reassured me.
