I love the inclusion of Live Oak. It feels great to walk into a sacred space and see so many different types of people. The music here is also wonderful. There’s a choir and a ukulele group as well as very talented keyboardists who keep the service varied and interesting. The messages I hear each week are always thought provoking and heart felt. Live Oak is everything I’ve hoped for in a church but the best part are the people in it. At the beginning of 2020 I had to navigate some extreme emotional trauma. With my social anxieties and a childhood full of disconnection in Christian churches I felt very overwhelmed about testing the waters as an adult with my own household, but I desperately needed a community. I took the smallest step of reaching out on Facebook to ask questions that would help make my first visit a little less intimidating and I felt so much better after getting responses that made me feel some peace in bringing my family. Over five years later and I have not once felt "othered" nor anything but welcomed to participate at any level I am comfortable, from celebrations to community volunteering to church meetings. I feel it to my bones when I hear the pastor instill weekly, "No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, ALL are welcome here." And I see that, every week, in the pews all around me. This church is so amazing! They are truly welcoming and loving. They sing to the lord with all their hearts and talk about Jesus miracles and love and spreading faith to the community. They welcome everyone with open arms and they are very knowledgeable of the Bible. I love it here Brea is a welcoming friendly church, encouraging people to feel at right home. This is a progressive church, promoting the inclusion of all people who love each other and interested in humane and environmental causes. Adding to that comfortable feeling, people may bring along that special pet to the services and frequent potlucks. Looking for God's home? Then, this is it. Wonderful Jazz Vesper with sensational Vocalist Rose Mallett and the Ron Kobayashi Trio. Speakers were engaging and inspirational.
