First, I'll start by saying that we are truly thankful to the Lord for leading us to The Mission Church! We truly appreciate our brothers, Pastor David and Pastor JC! Both are excellent teachers of God's Word! After reading your "statement of faith" on the church's website, and following our 1st visit, (3 months ago) we became clear that we would be staying, and are hoping to get involved in serving/helping out as needed. We moved to this area almost a year ago from Idaho, and until we found this wonderful body of sweet believers in Jesus, we had to do a bit.. (OK, ..more than a bit..) of "church hopping", which is not fun! Can any of you relate?! Anyhow, just want to let y'all know that we love you ALL, our brothers and sisters in Christ! So,...you're "stuck with us".......the good kind of "stuck". Ha! Love everything and everyone at this church! David & JC preach and teach God's word, bringing it to you in a way that you walk out excited and inspired...every week. Everyone is so nice...lots of young people... My wife and I have lived next to this church for 9 years. They are terrible neighbors. I work hard during the week, I’m up at 4:30 am Monday - Friday overseeing a construction crew. My weekends are critical for catching up on sleep, but this morning I was woken by them ringing their church bell probably 30 consecutive times at 7:45 am. Every Sunday I wake up to Sunday school kids emitting blood curdling screams with seemingly no adult supervision right outside my window. Not to mention their patrons ‘s parking overflows beyond the designated parking lot into our street, taking over the neighborhood on weekends. On rare occasions we will hear young adults on weeknights screaming and yelling within the church late at night. They are probably just goofing off… it looks like a youth group or something, but still, bothersome to the neighbors. They act like they own the community, not to mention they have never once reached out to us in any welcoming way, despite them being direct disruptive neighbors. Over nine years… not one reach out, just issues, thanks. The Mission Church is a second home to me! I have been attending for a couple years now. After exploring many churches in Carlsbad, The Mission Church stands out for many reasons. Pastor David and JC have a strong reverence for the Bible and teach it very well. They clearly study the Word very deeply and teach the Word with a strong reverence. I have learned so much while attending this church. I was saved before I started attending, but the teaching I have received from The Mission has reignited my faith and strengthened my relationship with the Lord exponentially. Pastor David preaches the Bible in a way that illuminates how deeply God loves us. Pastor David also strongly encourages the congregation to study The Word for themselves and that has helped me make my faith my own. Another reason why I respect The Mission so much is they practice what they preach. Although there are complaints about The Mission being too political, I believe the Church should be speaking out against injustices and Pastor David and JC are very brave to speak truth despite making some people feel uncomfortable. I met my husband there, I have made life-long friendships there, and gained mentors there as well. The staff is clearly devoted to serving the Lord and care deeply for the congregation. Pastor JC leads an amazing Young Adults program that has changed the lives of many Young Adults, including myself. Their Women’s Ministry is extremely edifying and special as well. This is a Holy Spirit filled church and I am so grateful to have found The Mission! So happy our neighbors told us about this church; it has been such a positive influence on my family. My husband and I were looking for a Christian church that aligned with our values and was true to the word of God. The first service we attended was so welcoming. They give you a coffee mug and connection cards for Fellowship on your first visit. The church has multiple events throughout the year including park Olympics, BBQs, hikes, surf lessons, etc. My husband was even Baptized at Moonlight Beach with 45 other members. The Pastors and Youth ministry leaders are such a blessing! We are approaching our 1 year mark and it warms my heart to know we have finally found our people.
