My wife and I were visiting this parish while in Newport Beach, and we had a very difficult experience during Communion. My wife has been receiving the Eucharist kneeling for several years as a personal act of reverence, which is permitted in the Catholic Church. When she approached to receive kneeling, the priest (Fr. Capone) instructed her to stand and would not give her Communion until she did. It was uncomfortable to witness and clearly distressing for her, especially in what should be a deeply sacred and peaceful moment. I’m sharing this so that others who feel strongly about receiving kneeling are aware that, in our experience, it was not permitted here.” You should have a choice whether you want to stand or Neil. No one should force you if you want to be extra reverent to Jesus, our Lord and Savior. What will the priest do the day they see him? Will they kneel or will they stand every knee shall bow down to our Lord. Let’s not be lukewarm let’s be hot for Christ. San Joachim holds a special place in my heart and I’ve only been there once! Beautiful church and atmosphere! Thank you for all that you do! Amen! St Joachim is a lovely church, gets full, many activities, photo is during Night Adoration of Blessed Sacrament. St. Joachim Catholic School protects children who bully others. Bullies will always exist. Our Catholic belief that all are beautiful children of God, necessarily supports that Catholic school staff are obligated to keep our children safe from bullies. But the principal, pastor and staff at St Joachim school don’t believe this. Wondering if this school is still Catholic. Beautiful church music is amazing.
