I’ve been a part of this church for nine years. I love it. It is my second family I feel welcomed as my authentic self every time I come. The Worship is amazing beyond words on Sundays and the sermons are relatable and introspective. The small groups and events are meaningful and fun and creative. This place is not over the top, nor preachy, nor judgey. It’s just a group of welcoming people who aim to love their neighbors, become better versions of themselves, and grow in their faith with God. If you are curious, stop in. If you want to screen an online sermon before you come, give Easter April 5 2026 a listen. What a committed membership for this congregation led church. Whether through music, prayer or sermons, the worship ministry fosters a spirit of inclusion. Many opportunities to grow in faith through a variety of ministries. My granddaughter and grandson always look forward to church and the children and youth programs. This has been such a wonderful place for our family. The worship is contemporary with occasional hymns mixed in and is SO good. Every message from Pastor Markus is put in context, and even when the passage is something I've heard preached on before, I come away with a new perspective on it and a way to apply it to my life. Our kids love Sunday school where they quickly came to know all of the kids. They are sad when the Thursday night bible study is on break because they can't wait to go play with their friends (and hear a Bible story from the ministry director :)). The best part of this church is the welcoming congregation. After a few weeks of attending it felt like we were already a part of the church. There are people of all ages and we all love to fellowship with delicious snacks after service. When we began our church hunt in San Diego, we thought it was going to be a long string of months until we found our home -- but after visiting Mount Soledad one time, we immediately fell in love. Pastor Markus is knowledgeable, funny, and open-minded. Plus, he puts scripture into its proper historical context -- you'll learn an occasional Greek word, see an occasional map, and learn what was really going on in every passage. I feel like I learn something new every sermon. Most importantly to us, this church feels like a real community -- people get to know each other, there is a small group and prayer group every week, and the Sunday school is small and unintimidating for our kids. (They LOVE it there. Where once our kids felt ho-hum about going to church, now they beg to go every Sunday -- if that doesn't sell you on Mount Soledad, I don't know what will!) Mount Soledad Presbyterian Church is a warm welcoming place of worship. My husband and I have been attending for years and absolutely love everything about it. The worship is amazing, I look forward to it every Sunday. Pastor John is a strong leader, he is very present and always makes time for our family. The sermons are relatable and really speak to your heart. The congregation is friendly and it makes you feel at home. Our two children thrive in the Sunday school program. I love how they leave so excited to tell us about what they leaned about the Bible that Sunday. Our family invites anyone looking for a church to call home to visit Mount Soledad Presbyterian Church. It is a wonderful church.
