I was asked to leave my own brother’s funeral service at church because my son, who has autism, was making noise. Being removed during such a painful moment made an already heartbreaking day even more difficult. A so called priest asked us to leave. Autism awareness matters everywhere, including in churches. ! * Mark 10:14–16: Jesus became indignant when disciples turned children away, stating the kingdom belongs to them, then embraced and blessed them. Bells ringing eight times every weekend morning at odd hours is not tradition, it’s a nuisance to every neighbor within earshot. A little self-awareness goes a long way. It's absolutely not appropriate to remove a child from a church service simply for being noisy. We are often encouraged to help out in our congregation, but what are we supposed to do with our little ones in those moments? The church itself is very beautiful and the priest Rafael is amazing. He is speaks clearly also for the kids to understand the mass, he gives them examples. And what can I say he has everybody attentive during the mass due to his knowledge and he helping us get closer to god. Padre Rafael also goes for the Chivas de Guadalajara! 😊 Beautiful church, their Sunday mass has mariachis for music! Really fantastic! Also, father Rafael is a hoot. Gives great sermons and has a great sense of humor.
