It’s an experience that you have to live through the twists and turns. A modern catholic approach church and cemetery. Then there is the little hike and the coyote land below. Don’t leave plants on the walking path, the monk will toss every flower offering you leave. He also wants the prayer garden clean, no flowers! My family loves the Prince of Peace Abbey. We attend mass every year during Holy Week. It is so peaceful. Plus, their gift shop is amazing. They also have a retreat center. Their Eucharistic Chapel is really special. I visited the Prince of Peace Abbey for a personal day retreat of prayer. I was greeted by their Monk Andrew, who kindly welcomed me. I'm of the Protestant affiliation and he assured me they welcome visitors of different denominations/religions. I wanted to make sure I was respectful of their Abbey. I enjoyed using their Prayer Walk path for my own time of prayer. It's an endearing little walk that winds to a little gazebo, where you can see the hills on one side and a glimpse of the ocean on the other. The grounds were beautifully laid out. Inside their sanctuary, the open spacing is warmly decorated and inviting for reflection. I didn't attend any of their services, so I'm unable to speak to them. Overall, a beautiful place to visit for a personal retreat! I wanted to start 2026 with a visit to this church, and it turned out to be a really peaceful experience. The atmosphere was serene, the architecture beautiful, and the stained glass especially stood out and it created such a calm, reflective feeling. We spent a few minutes meditating, and it was definitely worth the visit. The surroundings are lovely as well. There’s a short hike around, but since it had rained, the trail was very wet, so we skipped it this time. We’ll save that for another visit.
