This place was absolutely wonderful! I came today, Palm Sunday, for the first time and had an absolutely amazing experience. Everyone was so friendly and kind, the service was stirring and the environment felt pleasant and welcoming. "Connect to Captivate" at Captivate Church of San Diego. Come as you are from wherever you may be and in the name of Jesus Christ may you be set free that you may be free indeed and you will indeed find freedom! -Amen P.S. parking can be sparse so come early or enjoy a brisk morning walk #DontWalkRUNToTheCross Seeking a New Home Church – A Testimony from This Morning We’ve recently been stationed in San Diego and have been prayerfully seeking a new home church. This morning, we woke up ready and excited to gather in worship and hear the Word of God. We decided to visit Captivate Church in Point Loma for the first time. As worship began, I did what I always do—I closed my eyes, lifted my hands, and entered into the presence of the Lord. I opened my heart to the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to move in me as I sang, prayed, and worshiped. I felt a deep sense of joy and peace—the undeniable presence of God covering me. When the worship ended, I opened my eyes and my daughter leaned over to whisper in my ear. She told me that the people around us had been pointing, whispering, and mocking the way I was worshiping. Her face fell, and she began to cry—feeling judged, excluded, and grieved instead of embraced with love, unity, and grace in what’s meant to be the house of the Lord. Two women in front of us continued to whisper to one another. I gently leaned forward and told them, with respect, that I didn’t appreciate the way they were whispering and judging me while I worshiped. I explained that I meant no disruption or offense—that I was simply moved by the Holy Spirit in how I chose to worship. I encouraged them to take any offense they felt to God in prayer and left them with a blessing. All they had to say was “you were being disruptive”. I reminded my daughter that we don’t go to church to be accepted by people. We go to meet with God, to receive what He has prepared for us, and to walk in truth, love, and righteousness. I told her not to let judgment or mockery distract her from the presence of God. People may try to put us in a box—but God calls us to freedom, not performance. Even though the experience with those around us was painful and disappointing, I still received the Word that God had appointed for us that day. He met me there. And for that, I’m thankful. This experience reminded me that the Church is not perfect, and sometimes people can bring in judgment instead of grace. But instead of carrying offense, I’m choosing to lay it all at the feet of Jesus and pray for hearts to be softened—mine included. We’ll continue to seek a church where the Holy Spirit is welcome, where worship is free and full of reverence, and where people are embraced, not silenced. We attended the Wednesday night service and absolutely loved it. Pastor Wes was a guest pastor at our church the previous weekend, and his passion, knowledge, and energy really stood out. He felt so genuine and real that we were motivated to come visit his church and we’re so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, everyone was welcoming and kind. The atmosphere felt warm and inviting, and God’s presence was truly felt. It’s clear this church is growing and moving in the right direction, and it’s exciting to hear that they’re even opening another location nearby. Our daughter especially loved the children’s ministry. The teachers, Mr. Landon and Mr. Brock, were incredibly welcoming, and she had such a great time that she asked if we could come back. We really enjoyed the service and look forward to going back again. Thank you for creating such a loving, faith-filled environment for both adults and kids. - Jason & Amanda I visited Captivate Church in Point Loma last Sunday after running into my friend Nathanael, and I’m so glad I joined him. From the moment I walked in, it felt very welcoming and comfortable. The service started with uplifting music and then moved into a powerful message from the Bible that connected directly to everyday life. It really spoke to me and left me encouraged. Overall, it was a great experience and a perfect visit. If you’re looking for a church home, I would definitely recommend checking out Captivate! Captivate Church is the community you’ve been searching for. I’m not sure who will read this, but if you are looking for a genuine, Christ-centered church, this is it. Pastor Wes, the lead pastor, fully embodies Captivate’s mission to end spiritual loneliness. His messages are deeply profound, relatable, and always rooted in Scripture and the teachings of Jesus Christ. What makes Captivate so powerful is its focus: every sermon points back to Jesus—not personal opinions, not interpretations shaped by politics, not self-promotion—but the true Word of God. Ending spiritual loneliness is no small mission, and I can say from experience that Captivate lives it out. I’m young, multiracial, and a California girl, and yet I feel completely at home here. So many churches today seem to adopt divisive ideologies or push political agendas, turning worship into commentary on culture rather than a reflection of who Christ calls us to be. Captivate is different. Pastor Wes is different. For a long time, I stayed away from organized religion because of how far many churches had drifted from Christ’s message of love and humility. I was spiritually lonely, trying to navigate my faith on my own. It may sound strange, but I don’t know Pastor Wes’s political stance—and I’m so glad I don’t. What I do know is that he loves people, respects everyone he meets, and leads with humility. He doesn’t pretend to speak for God; instead, he helps us build a relationship with God ourselves. If you’re looking for a church that’s truly about Jesus Christ—not about “the extra”—Captivate is for you. In just a few months, I’ve met so many wonderful people, brought friends, joined serving teams, attended weekly events, throw my hands up in worship, and volunteered alongside others from church. It’s been such a blessing and a true community. That said, I do want to share one honest concern in the hope it helps leadership grow even stronger. I’ve experienced two supporting pastors who don’t reflect Pastor Wes’s example and sometimes bring political opinions into their messages. Unfortunately, their words felt divisive and not in line with the heart of Captivate’s mission. I’ve had to walk out of services when the focus shifted from God’s word to personal ideology. I say this because I know what political stances they take and I question how much these particular pastors respect all people, how well they live out the virtues of the Bible, and whether they love all as Christ calls us to. From what I’ve witnessed, they use their platform to speak for God on political matters—something no one should do. That is not what church is for, and not what Captivate stands for. I share this not out of judgment, but from love for this church and its mission. I pray all pastors at Captivate follow Pastor Wes’s lead—keeping the focus on Christ, not current events or opinions. Despite that, I truly love this church. It’s authentic, welcoming, and centered on faith. I give here because God moves me to, not because anyone pressures me. I serve here because I believe in what Captivate stands for—community, love, and the true Word of God. If you’re searching for a church home that is genuinely about Jesus, come to Captivate. It has changed my life.
