What visitors say
I thought this place was great until I was made deeply uncomfortable by a man commenting on my daughter’s “blossoming puberty.” And then another time finding it appropriate to comment on her needing a bra. Complaints go unheard. Will not be going back. Glad to be a member of the Good Samaritan community since 2014. Love the joyful worship, music, and community building and service activities for every age and stage of life. Amazing visit to an important place in my life! Surprised how tall the buildings are! Amazed how close the transit system is to the church! The Seagull sat on the glass on Pentecost Sunday for the entire service! Really followed the Liturgy! I'm homeless came here for help. Was told to come back on a Friday best they could do was 20$. Fed my dog and sent me off. In my opinion that's not help that's an act to keep someone in the situation. I asked for a shower. Was told there isn't one. (It's actually in one for the bathroom stalls). What's the sign for salvation for? After moving for school I came here looking for a good place to connect with the local community and service opportunities. After attending Good Sam I didn’t look any further. The community is so welcoming. Young families, single people from UCSD and a solid group from the surrounding community attend. I was instantly welcomed and shown around. The congregation seemed used to new attendees and were really helpful to me as I found my footing (I did not grow up Episcopalian). The congregation is also integrated into the larger San Diego service communities. I was connected to food and clothing drives, opportunities to volunteer at soup kitchens, and opportunities to help families in San Diego’s sister city, Tijuana. Plus there is coffee and snacks after the service!
