All church servers are helpful & smiling. The church emphasizes acceptance of all as children of God. The lead singer is so good as well as the entire choir. The ministers & volunteers are welcoming. Daily 5pm Mass everyday for those like me who cannot wake up early :) --- plus other morning Mass schedules. On my quest to attend mass in every church in San Diego County, I went to St. John yesterday. Nestled amidst the bustle of the city, St. John radiates a quiet warmth that draws you in like a gentle hug. Stepping into its threshold is like stepping back in time, not to a bygone era, but to a space where kindness and community reign supreme. The first thing that strikes you is the abundance of friendly faces. A vibrant tapestry of silver hair and laughter lines, etched with the wisdom of years well-lived, greets you with genuine smiles and open arms. Gone is the anonymity of larger churches; here, everyone seems to know each other, and a newcomer is welcomed like a long-lost friend. Oh, the glorious parking! In a world where finding a spot near a church can feel like winning the lottery, St. John's boasts a vast, well-maintained lot that eliminates the pre-service stress. No more circling endlessly, no more hurried walks from distant streets. Just pull in, park with ease, and join the warm embrace of this welcoming community. St. John the Evangelist is a powerful and inspiring Catholic church in San Diego. Its beautifully performed hymns, the joy it imparts, and the spiritual inspiration it provides make it a place of profound significance. Attending mass here is a spiritual journey that enriches the soul and leaves you feeling closer to God. Very welcoming and friendly community! The priest gave a wonderful homily on faith and hope. The music was uplifting and included Latin responses. I enjoyed visiting. The church was beautiful, the hymns thoughtfully chosen, the scripture and homily were insightful and applicable to life. A welcoming and inclusive community.
