Nice community Church. It is nothing fancy but the people serve the community. They have tutoring for refugees NIMBY, I confess. Literally, because they are right behind my apartment. I get a full 180-degree view of the street people they keep drawing into the neighborhood. They feed the poor which I am not opposed to, but they are irresponsible in ensuring that these potentially dangerous people disburse the area when they are finished feeding them. They are camping out in the area now, with tents and blankets and shopping carts full of garbage, smoking and drinking alcohol, and there are mentally ill people beginning to camp out, increasing in numbers. This alley is used by high school kids when traversing between Hoover High and their homes or the shopping mall; the potential for danger is extremely high. They raid our trash dumpster and leave trash lying around the area, filling it up with their discards. People who rent in their temporary apartments park in our parking stalls that are clearly marked "Tenant Parking Only." This problem has been reported to the police department, who have had to break up the encampment several times already. Great place to reconnect with your higher power! Friendly and down to earth people here. Not stuffy at all. Good place for some nurishment of bread and wine to keep you focused all week. St. Marks is a center for loving. Not only is the worship deep and meaningful, the outreach programs serve the homeless and the working poor in the area. This is what Christianity is all about. No dress code, come as you are... ready to serve the needy. Or if you are in need come for help.
