My recent experience at St. Kateri Catholic School was disappointing and left me feeling uncomfortable as a parent. I was attending while my child was participating in a class and had initially been told that I could wait outside the classroom. After sitting quietly for a few minutes, a staff member approached me and asked that I leave the area and wait upstairs. I politely explained that I prefer not to leave my son alone in a building I am unfamiliar with, especially since another parent was seated nearby waiting as well. Despite this, I was again asked to move. In an effort to cooperate, I relocated to the area near the school office and even began the fingerprint/background process they require for parents. While sitting there quietly and not interacting with any children or staff, I was approached again and told to go wait upstairs. At no point was I disruptive or interfering with any activities—I was simply sitting and waiting for my child. The repeated requests to move, despite my cooperation, made the situation feel unnecessary and uncomfortable. Given that another parent was allowed to remain nearby and considering that I was wearing a tank top and have visible tattoos, the interaction unfortunately left me feeling as though I may have been unfairly profiled. I fully respect the need for safety protocols in schools, but policies should be communicated clearly and applied consistently to all parents. My hope is that the school reviews how these situations are handled so that parents are treated with respect and made to feel welcome while supporting their children. Gabrielle and Cassandra we're very emphatic and contradicting to one another as one staff member told me I can sit in a certain area and wait they would come in and say I could not, a different staff member invited me in to sit in the classroom they came in and collected me and removed me very unwelcoming I've never felt so targeted based on my appearance especially at a church. St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church is such a beautiful and welcoming parish. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth and kindness of the community. The church itself is stunning — with high ceilings, glass windows instead of walls, and plenty of natural light that fills the space with peace and harmony. The priests are incredibly caring and always make time to support anyone who needs guidance or comfort. There are also so many wonderful ministries for both adults and children. One of our family’s favorite parts of the year is Vacation Bible School — my kids look forward to it all year long! There are several Mass options throughout the week, making it easy for everyone to attend, and the Sunday 10:30 a.m. Children’s Mass is especially uplifting. Parking can get busy, but arriving a little early helps a lot. Overall, St. Kateri is more than just a church — it’s a community filled with faith, love, and light. We feel so blessed to call it our parish home. 🙏💛 I loved attending masses in this church. The parish office however, in my opinion, needs improvement. It will be so much better if the front desk people there would be more conscious of the fact that they work in a church office, not just any ordinary office. Some parishioners go there because they just lost a loved one and would want to ask for prayers and mass intentions. We understand that the schedule can be really packed since "we have over 5000 parishioners" but it will be really great if the office is staffed by compassionate people who are truly willing to help. I was visiting the area last Sunday and stopped in for mass. The church campus was beautiful and people were very nice! After church the priest told us about Saint Kateri, the first Native American saint. It was a wonderful experience. I would definitely go back! Saint Kateri Tekakwitha is a beautiful modern church in the north part of Santa Clarita off Copper Hill. Lots of parking and easy entry and exit. The church is spacious and the 5.30 pm Sunday mass was perfect with ample seating and enjoyable music. Deacon provided a captivating and relatable homily and the mass flowed nicely. Enjoyable visit to attend Sunday mass.
