What visitors say

I’m a pastor in Colorado Springs from another church. I had the privilege to visit Calvary on my sabbatical. I brought the whole family. Outstanding church. You can expect worship, a sermon from the Bible, an opportunity to make Jesus the “Lord of your life”, kids and student ministry, welcoming people and a lovely diverse congregation. The Sunday I was there was the Sunday they announced that their building had been paid for. No more mortgage. Praise God. Great Pastor and the overall feel here is very welcoming. And the view from the upstairs patio is amazing. I stood out on the patio while I listened to worship and it felt very special Especially while listening to the Song ' You can Move Mountains' . One of the only churches in my life to welcome me in the fold. I love this church the adult groups and service our amazing love everyone I have met. However I really think they need to improve their youth ministry our reconsider the one teaching middle and high school. Our kids attend the churches camp this week and I’m very disappointed at what we were told . The camp was nothing like we were told . They played weird games and Josh told them they need to change what they wear and listen to if they are to really be close to God. These are young kids and the way they went about camp is not a great way to get teens excited about God. What the leader told us. Leaders would be watching these kids well. They did not drinking and smoking took place. We were told they would communicate with parents about arrival and check in they did not . They told parents and kids there would be all these activities horse back riding rope course camp fire and snores . They did not do any of those things. During campfire/snore time that kids no snores or fire ever lit.Parents asked at the meeting if it was extra or we need to pay for that prior they said no. No phones where aloud but certain kids were aloud to have them out and leaders allowed it for some. Josh bought a large group of kids ice cream but not everyone. These are kids and a Jesus loving community where they should have had fun and felt included. The teen group is very cliky and it makes it hard for some of the other kids . I really had hoped many kids would come to Christ at camp and had high hopes of the youth group and was very disappointed.Needless to say I really think more training is needed or better planing. I’m sure we could have come up with better games than stealing kids nasty socks off their feet. I really hope to see improvement on the youth group as everything else has been so great. We visited on Easter Sunday. It was a nice service. A friendly church atmosphere.
