What visitors say

The First Christian Church of Ft Lauderdale was started by Maude Bollinger and Ruth Repp who offered Sunday school classes on Repp's front porch to the Ft Lauderdale community which was only 143 people at that time. Church services were held at several locations in Ft. Lauderdale including the old Fort Lauderdale Sentinel building. In 1925, a benefactor donated land for a church at the corner of Southeast 13th Street and Southeast Third Avenue on the site of a former rock pit. Lumber to build the church arrived on Sept. 16, 1926. The very next day the Hurricane of 1926 destroyed the church records, lumber, the tent they were working out of, and all of their equipment. Two children and two adult members of the congregation lost their lives. The church rose from this devastating loss and completed the church building in 1927. A later expanded building incorporates the original church structure. I love a historic church and I was able to check out First Christian Church of Ft Lauderdale during a tag sale. They held the sale in their basement! I was amazed that there was a building with an actual basement in South Florida. The congregation was so warm and welcoming and I got invited to church service by Katherine. This church is gorgeous and you can feel the history within its walls. Church services are held every Sunday at 10:45. everytime my family is down here we love to go to this church. Great vibes. Great teaching Wednesday night bible study at 8pm is awesome! If I lived in Fort Lauderdale I would be attending this church. Old school Pastor who also serves on the worship team (as I do) and loves Jesus. Loved the stained glass windows and the word and the anointed. If we move here, this is out church where I will help find someone for video! Phil Jesus Lives This is, as I understand it, the second oldest continually operating church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was founded in 1911 and continues today as a place where people from all walks of life worship God. Although the church was once a formal member of the Disciples of Christ denomination, it has been an independent, non-denominational church for the last fifteen years or more. It is organized in the same manner as the churches in the Book of Acts and is elder led. There is a sweet spirit among its congregation and, upon entering, you can feel the love of God. The multi-ethnic, international membership is a picture of South Florida. What sets them apart is their joyful, loving praise of Jesus Christ. Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. and the church service follows at 10:45 a.m. with a live band leading praise and worship, a sermon from God's Word and communion. After the service, everyone retires to the basement Fellowship Hall for coffee and fellowship. It's a great opportunity to meet your fellow Christians and experience the move of God's Holy Spirit! Come and join us. Let us worship the Lord, our God, together.
