What visitors say
So we visited this church yesterday for the first time for my nieces dedication, what was supposed to be a very exciting time turned into what felt like an attack. I was thrown completely off and alarmed when I was asked to leave the sanctuary because my 1yr baby was making too much noise. Mind you he was not crying, yelling or being loud at all he was simply making normal baby commentary. Some may even say praising the Lord but no that was not acceptable. We were rushed by this weird aggressive usher who was reprimanding us and made our entire experience very uncomfortable. I have NEVER in my life felt this way in a church and for it to be my first time with my child it left a horrible taste in my mouth. And for the lady to be constantly talking at us as she escorted us out was SO disappointing, it felt like we did something wrong. We then couldn’t even focus on the message and on what was being preached as well as missing my nieces dedication which was the whole purpose of our visit. Now if this is how you treat your saints, especially first time visitors, how do you expect them to feel? The house of God should feel welcoming inviting and safe, this did not feel like either which is so unfortunate. I do pray that the leaders of this ministry reevaluate how they treat those experiencing the house of God. My wife and I moved to Georgia to be planted at Ascend Church, and we are grateful beyond words. Pastor Brian faithfully preaches the Word with humility and clear dependence on the Holy Spirit. This is a Christ-centered, biblically grounded church that genuinely shepherds its people. In a time when many churches feel commercialized, Ascend stands out as sincere, reverent, and Spirit-led. If you’re hungry for Jesus and longing to be part of a true flock, this is a place to call home. Beautiful presence of the Lord Worship team is amazing you can tell they have been with The Lord . The Pastor and leaders have a deep and pure intimate love for JesusChrist and His Word. The glory of God is in this place Refreshing !!! Been listening online for a month and I’m hooked. Can feel the Presence so strong thru the broadcast even from Oxford UK. Atlanta is my old stomping ground, and where I was reborn at 19! 46 now and smiling to see how God is still moving powerfully in my ‘hometown’ 🙏❤️🔥 I visited this church for the first time this morning, and unfortunately it wasn’t a good experience. I was very disappointed to learn that young children are not allowed to remain in the sanctuary and must be sent to children’s church. Young children make noise sometimes that’s normal. I’ve been to much larger and more prominent churches where families are welcomed together during service, so this policy felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. What troubled me most was witnessing a child with autism have to leave the sanctuary because of the noises they were making. This is supposed to be the house of God, a place of compassion and grace. Seeing a child with special needs removed from the service was honestly heartbreaking and felt completely inappropriate. The atmosphere was also extremely dark inside, much darker than a typical worship space, which made it feel more theatrical than sacred. The pastor’s message was fine but not exceptional, very average preaching, nothing particularly impactful or memorable. I would definitely think twice about coming here with young children especially if you’re not comfortable with them being separated from you or for some other reason and me and my family will not be returning. I hope they will reconsider these inhospitable policies.
