Everyone was welcoming. The only thing that was weird was they skipped our row during the communion but I think its because you have to line up instead of calling row by row. Nice mass and calm atmosphere The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a stunning place of worship that blends timeless beauty with a sense of deep peace. Its intricate architecture, soaring ceilings, and beautiful stained-glass windows create an atmosphere of reverence and awe. Whether you visit to pray, reflect, or admire its artistry, the basilica offers a truly uplifting spiritual experience. My husband and I had our first experience with the Basilica back in 2022. We were supposed to get married at another church in the area, only to find out they overbooked us. We had already sent out save the dates and put a downpayment on a reception venue nearby. With 5 months before our wedding date, we frantically reached out to the Basilica. The date was available and they were extremely accommodating and helpful, even allowing us to use the priest from the other church. We had a beautiful ceremony thanks to the help of the coordinator, the flower guild, the organist, and everybody else involved. Fast forward to a little over a year ago. My husband and I live on this side of town now, so we started going to the Basilica and have fallen in love. The sanctuary is beautiful, everybody is friendly, and Father John gives fantastic homilies. This is definitely home for us. Very welcoming people with a cozy atmosphere. Came here for Sunday evening mass. They have a relic from the True Cross of Christ. The artwork and stained glass is amazing. While walking out, look up to be captured by the Rose Window. ### Location Sacred Heart Basilica is located on South Boulevard, Subbayah Salai, Pondicherry, close to the city’s railway station. ### Significance Built in 1908 by French missionaries, this Gothic-style church was elevated to a basilica in 2011, making it an important religious site in Pondicherry. ### Attractions The church is known for its stunning stained-glass windows, peaceful ambiance, and impressive Gothic architecture, making it a must-visit spot for both pilgrims and tourists.
