What visitors say
One of the most loving and affirming churches in the Augusta Georgia area! They do a lot of work and outreach for the LGBTQIA community. Their yearly LGBTQIA+ Pride Community Service in June is an amazing service of healing and support. They support Augusta Pride and host 2 booths each year at the Pride Festival. They also participate in the yearly Pride Parade. They support the Progressive Religious Coalition of Augusta’s annual Why Dr King Still Matters service. They donate food, clothing, blankets, and money to help the poor and homeless in Augusta. Their annual blessing of the pets also supports local organizations geared toward helping our furry family members. Just an amazing church, following the teachings of Jesus! I love my church, Metropolitan Community Church of Our Redeemer(MCCOR). I don't go as often as I should but I'm glad I'm a member here! I have been attending this church off and on for about 8 years now. I didn't decide to make it official and become a member until about 3 years ago on June 20, 2010. I have nothing but great things to say about my church home and church family. They go above and beyond to see that you have a great experience during church service. Recently our pastor, the Rev. Jeff Pulliam, retired so there's a interim pastor, Rev. Lisa Heilig. Even though, that's a drastic change the message, whoever it's brought by, is always great. Every time I attend church I feel so at peace during the service and once I leave with the recent message my week goes by so smoothly. MCCOR is definitely my little retreat when my life seems be to going off course and it seems like there is nowhere to turn. My MCCOR family is always there to lift my spirits. The most amazing church I have ever attended. I grew up as a southern Baptist knowing how God made me. I was hurt in the Baptist church by the pastor and was out of church for almost 20 years until I discovered MCC. The first time I attended everyone welcomed me with so much love. The service made me cry as I knew I had finally found a church where I felt loved and accepted. I am so grateful for this church and the awesome pastor for giving me a safe place to worship God! I have been going to this church for three years now and I can earnestly say I have a true church family. They are the most welcoming group of people I have ever met. Ineffective and inefficient pastoral leadership. There is no empathy and no compassion here except for ingenuity. I do not recommend this church as a safe space for any dei LGBT+ members of our community.
