What visitors say

My mother chaquinta introduced me to this church back in 2025 when I was going through a hard time. I’m now pregnant and me and my boyfriend has made this our home church and a promise to attend every Sunday at 11am. Everyone is full of joy and good spirited. It feels very welcoming no judgement at all. First time here. My daughter and her husband brought us here for Easter ceremony. This is the regular church. They live in Alabama and travel 30 minutes to come here every Sunday. This Easter ceremony was held in the Columbus Civic Center. Enjoyed the service and the people tremendously. Very open-minded very welcoming very appreciative of everyone that attended. Next year, if it is held here, I will have to bring a winter coat due to. It is held over the ice of the hockey team. That is there. The message was good. The music was phenomenal and looking forward to coming here again upon visiting my daughter. Anyone in the area that is traveling highly suggest given them an opportunity. A non-denominational church that is very welcoming. This church is a blessing. The spirit of God is in this place. How can I be sure? I’ve had countless top of mind things I was pondering, read about or pray for and Brent gets up there and it will be that very topic. Not generalizing, specific!! The place is really laid back and feels like my home church from out west. They have wonderful book store and individual group meetings throughout the week. This church is on fire for Christ. Never once have they called me on the phone or pressured me. There welcoming and loving. I don’t highly recommend you have to go at-least once. this is the church to check out. Praise was awesome and the sermon was great, but I will not put my child through another sermon. Registered beforehand and showed up early as recommended. Hung out in the “Frogs” room with my 2 year old so that he could acclimate. He seemed to be doing ok, so I said goodbye and left to find the main service. Given directions on where the elevator was, but that was it. No one to help guide a new visitor. 50 minutes into the sermon, I was asked by an usher to give up my seat that was on the end of an aisle. I had sat there just in case I got a message from the nursery person and could leave quickly. I saw it was for an older person and said sure- and when I got up and looked, there were plenty of open seats in the back. I contemplated just leaving and picking up my kid, but decided to go to the very back and sat there. After a moment, the older person that had taken my spot asked to move to the back where I was. Just some weird decision making on the usher’s part. And I should’ve listened to my intuition to leave early. When picking up my kiddo from the nursery, they told me that he had been sitting in the corner playing with some cars by himself the whole time, which is totally out of character for him. He did eat some goldfish, but they had decided since he wasn’t interacting with others (hello, he’s new??? And 2???) that he didn’t need a diaper check at 12, which was when they said they usually check. Lo and behold when I go to change his diaper, there’s poop dried to his bum and who knows how long he had been sitting in it since they didn’t have the courtesy to message me to let me know what was going on. Plus at pick up, it looked like there were some kids MUCH older than him (maybe 4-5 years old?) playing in the same room. Sure, they have a nice cafe and a playground, but what difference does that make if your child will be neglected while in their care. I am deeply disappointed by the way this church has treated a single mother and her children, who are on the autism spectrum. Instead of showing compassion, understanding, and support—values that are central to any faith community—their actions came across as dismissive and, at times, harassing. Families with neurodivergent children already face unique challenges, and places of worship should be safe, welcoming spaces for everyone. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. The lack of patience, empathy, and basic kindness shown toward this family is concerning and does not reflect the inclusive and loving environment that many seek in a church. I strongly encourage the leadership to reflect on how they engage with vulnerable members of the community and to pursue greater awareness and sensitivity when interacting with families of children with special needs. No family should feel unwelcome or targeted in a place that is meant to offer peace and support.
