What visitors say
Sharing my personal experience as a former attendee: this church lacks financial transparency—budgets and spending aren’t made available - or at least I never saw them. The pastor does not report to anyone - there is no board or elders, which presents a lack of accountability. Leadership feels disengaged from the congregation’s growth, and general spiritual health, and the pastor is often busy writing books, but it feels the church could use more attention. We left feeling unheard and discouraged after a year here. We pray for the people there as there are amazing people there. If you're looking for a church, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere - there are many great local options. Everyone here is so nice and friendly. The pastor is awesome, i love listening to his sermons. They have the most amazing kids programs. You can go dressed up or dressed down. I highly recommend central city church I'm so happy and blessed to have found this church for myself & my daughter! I've been going for 5weeks now. After the very first visit, I immediately knew that I wanted this to be my forever church. Everyone is extremely friendly and the service/message is always amazing. The band/singers are so awesome!!! I went as I am new to the area and am trying to find my new home church. I liked the facility and the worship. However, on this particular day, the pastor stopped in the middle of the sermon to tell a woman, over the microphone in front of everyone, that her kids were a distraction and that they needed to go to a different room and “if they settled down they could come back in.” The kids in question were behaving just fine, in my opinion. Personally, I found it more distracting that the pastor himself called her out publicly in front of everyone. I could only imagine her embarrassment. It could’ve been handled in a much better way, either after the service, or a deacon/staff member quietly talking to her. It most definitely did not need to be over the microphone in front of everyone. I liked it at first, but this incident quickly made me decide I will not be returning for a second visit. I could not even focus on the message for the rest of the time because I was so appalled at the situation and how it was handled. Overall, I just found it very unprofessional of him as a pastor. We were visiting our son, daughter in law and granddaughters. This church is AMAZING! We felt very welcome, and the Pastor genuinely loves the Lord. I can’t tell you how much we were blessed!!! Thank you!!
