What visitors say
I am a church neighbor of many decades, not a member. But I feel I must share that this church does not care for its community, nor growth of its congregation. As evidenced by the church’s attempt to build a for-profit, 3 story, 95 apartment, expensive senior housing on their current parking areas, in among 1950s/1960s 1 story established residences. Its a shame, but over time I have seen this church evolve from caring for their neighbors to a whatever the church wants attitude. First they closed off Lucky Dr (paid for by Cobb taxpayers) to connect their disjointed campus. Then they built a huge rec center (the neighbors did not want) saying it would be for all, church mbrs and non-church mbrs, with direct neighbors having free access. This too has changed to a no access rec center, except a small exercise room up 3 flights of stairs after coming in an exterior door that is often flooded inside/outside. And finally, they have a new, beautiful LOCKED playground any child would love to play on, only allowing access on limited days/times. The past leaders of this church built a wonderful playground with access to everyone, which current leadership did not keep up. In closing, these a just the few but significant issues I’ve seen that I feel anyone seeking a caring, church family might want to be aware of. A sincere thank you for your time. Amy Kent There was a native plants sale in the church parking lot today. They offered a wide variety of healthy plants - natives that can be tough to find at your typical big box retail store. Thank you to The church for allowing this Amazing church always with incredible staff and members Eastside has a phenominal rec center, which is open to the public. Includes a full size basketball court (6 goals) and full weight room. When you first go, they will give you a card with 7 free visits so you can try it out before you commit. If you want to become a member, it's $150 for the year. Aside from being way cheaper than any chain facility you could go to, there are open gym times each week when groups come and play regularly. The most popular time is weekday mornings around 6 AM. Typically Monday, Wednesday and Friday, there are between 8-12 guys who play for a couple of hours. It's a great opportunity to get a couple games in before work/school. The facilities here are great and the staff is really enjoyable to talk with each time I come. If you're looking for a spot to get in some good hoops (with good competition) for a great price, you can't beat this spot. I highly recommend. They have a very strong spiritual presence unlike many churches today that Cross is always there for you to see. Too many churches have thrown the cross out with the trash and now we're doing new age make everybody happy. This place is not a ashamed to use the Lord's name and praise and to bring him up at every opportunity. You want to make a Carpenter smile visit Eastside.
