What visitors say
Church of the Three Crosses is a truly welcoming and thoughtful spiritual community in the heart of Old Town. The congregation is very progressive and inclusive. The services are approachable with meaningful sermons, beautiful music, and a relaxed atmosphere where no one feels out of place. We are a small congregation, but we are mighty! I have been attending COTTC with my family since 2002 (all 24 years of my life). If you’re looking for a church in Chicago - especially the Old Town or Lincoln Park area - where you can ask questions, build a community, and wear jeans to service, I highly recommend giving us a visit. My wife is a congregation member. When we first arrived in Chicago, she struggled to find a church with a community and values that resonated with her. A couple of years ago, she found this church and it was just what she was looking for. This is a very open, very welcoming group of people and that is a core value for them. I myself am not a Christian, but I really like the pastor and the congregation. I participate occasionally in activities on their behalf because I think they are genuinely good people who do good works. To anyone who has struggled with other churches and are seeking one with a more open, congregation focused experience, this is a really good one to check out. And to anyone who is curious about Christianity or is non practicing and just looking for a new community to be a part of, I'd encourage you to attend a few sessions and see if this is a fit. Church of the Three Crosses is a wonderful community. My wife and I checked it out when we first moved to the Old Town neighborhood, and we connected instantly with the progressive, thoughtful sermons. It is also important to us that our faith community be welcoming and affirming to the LGBTQ community, and have found this to be one of COTTC's best qualities. We moved away from the neighborhood four years ago, but we still choose to keep COTTC as our faith community because we have found them to be like family. I came to Church of the Three Crosses for their connection to the UCC and their Open and Affirming stance on LGBT issues. I have stayed because of the welcoming atmosphere, creative worship, and intellectual opportunities. This truly is an incredible community that allows you to experience spirituality in your own way! This church community has so much to offer. What attracts me is the open and welcoming atmosphere which brings in a diverse group of people. I'm also impressed by the commitment of this small organization to externally-focused ministry and volunteer programs...this tiny group touches a lot of lives for the better. The pastor is simply great and empowers the members to lead the church as well.
