“We are a predominately African American LGBT-inclusive church that welcomes all people. That’s right – we welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, races, ethnicities and class – not in spite of the gospel but because of the gospel.” I love this church for so many reasons. As a member, I’ve seen these values lived out through a deep commitment to learning the Bible with attention to history, context, and justice-centered lenses like womanist, queer, and Black liberation theology, as well as mental health. That commitment shapes the kind of community being built here. Lighthouse is truly a gem—not just in Chicago, but beyond. We are led by phenomenal pastors, supported by an amazing praise team and musicians, and grounded in a spirit-filled worship space where people can show up fully and authentically. I’m grateful to be part of this community and hope more people know that faith, love of God, and justice can be embraced together. Lighthouse is a shining example. A wonderful wonderful experience and an eye-opener to a different community in Chicago, me and my sister was visiting and needed a place to worship never knew we would end up here, it was a blessing in disguise the pastor was wonderful the service was wonderful the congregation is wonderful. May God always continue to cover all his people thank you for a wonderful experience. Lighthouse has been the best experience of church I have ever had. The church community is warm, welcoming and inclusive, the pastor is brilliant, the music is outstanding. And it is a blast to be part of such a young and vibrant church in Chicago. An amazing faith community which reminds us each and every week that we are all beloved.
