My partner and I have now had two disappointing experiences at Elevate City Church, and unfortunately we won’t be returning. A few months ago, we attended a sermon where a speaker shared a story about a woman being “saved” not only from drug addiction, but also from “becoming a lesbian,” framing it as part of a sinful lifestyle of “doing whatever you want.” and very clearly looking down upon people of this marginalized group. The message came across as deeply uncomfortable, hurtful, and, frankly, bigoted. We left feeling like LGBTQ+ people are not truly welcomed or respected in this church, which goes against the "come all" messaging our Father has taught us. We decided to give it another chance today (Easter Sunday), but ran into another issue. We checked both the church’s website and Google, which listed the service time as 11:30 AM. We arrived about 5 minutes early, only to find the sermon was already mostly over. We were there for maybe 20 minutes total before everything wrapped up. The remainder of the service felt rushed, there was a quick message about giving your life to God, a connection card prompt, a song, a very brief prayer, and then it ended. Between the misleading service time and our previous experience with the messaging, we are left feeling frustrated and unwelcome at this church. We were really hoping for a meaningful Easter service, but this didn’t meet our expectations. My godmother Sherri flora and godbrother helped found elevate city ! Both Sherri and Kyle helped bring a Christ centered church to Fort Wayne . Elevate city church is a church that helps individuals find their purpose that God created them for. Elevate city is a church about helping bring people closer Christ despite their imperfections and faults. Elevate city also makes it a priority to always follow Gods world and not the way of the world. Elevate city is a place where you can find the love of Christ demonstrated through the individuals of the church. I started going here during my daughters and I time at Charis house, and, there have been ups and downs, but hearing some of the messages, have been really good. I really respect Pastor Matt for going out of his way to help my family last year, as well. Amazing church that is for the city and for the people that attend it. You are guaranteed to feel at home at this church. This church has the kindest people that are ready to serve and assist you . Give it a chance! Very inviting. Talented staff. Well put together and thought out service.
