What visitors say

My wife and I visited today. We didn't know anyone there but found it through a Google map search. I read through the About Us page on the website. When we arrived, two things impressed us immediately. Almost everyone else arriving was carrying their Bible. Then, when we reached the entrance, we were very warmly greeted and welcomed. It wasn't just a "good morning; here's a bulletin" kind of greeting, but a genuine welcome. They engaged enough to quickly discern that we were guests, so another kind lady showed us around and took us to the information table. There, another kind gentleman spoke with us for a bit and let us know what to expect and what ministries were happening. The music was beautiful. It wasn't a concert. My wife and I enjoyed singing the songs. The sermon was based on Scripture and delivered with clarity. Communion was served (it's served monthly, the elder said), and it was led well with clear instructions. There were perhaps 500 people in attendance. A very multi-generational church. I was very comfortable as a brown-skinned person. Coffee and Dunkin Donuts were served afterward. Quite a few people stayed around and fellowshipped. If we ever have the opportunity, we would certainly visit again. Well done, ZF. Even though we've only been once, based on our experience, I would recommend the church to anyone in the area. This church offers genuine community through small groups and close relationships, which can feel deeply supportive. Yet that same closeness often becomes overbearing, creating social pressure to conform even to norms that aren’t necessarily biblical. For example, though the church calls itself non-denominational, under its current pastor it is shaped almost entirely by New Calvinism and Puritan traditions. Popular Reformed voices like John Piper and Jonathan Edwards frequently overshadow a direct, humble engagement with Scripture, while the wider wisdom of the historic church is often dismissed as suspect or unnecessary. Any view outside strict five-point Calvinism is quickly labeled Pelagian. The result is an insular and disengenuine mindset where faith is measured by external markers of the “elect,” and the approval of the group becomes confused with the approval of God. The affluent, self-assured culture reinforces a polished “us versus them” attitude that Christ Himself would have challenged—He did not build His ministry on theological pride or social respectability. Instead of nurturing the freedom and grace of the Gospel, this culture risks reducing faith to sin management, doctrinal allegiance, and group identity, leaving little room for the quiet, patient work of the Spirit within a person’s soul. For those who already embrace this narrow theological framework or have settled on a strictly reformed world view, it may feel like home. But anyone longing for the humility, breadth, and transforming grace of Christ may find this community more stifling than life-giving. Edit: After reflecting I think its very dishonest that this church which regularly promotes the five solas and Cannons of Dort advertises itself as a non-denominational. It should be identified as a Reformed Congregation. This church has been an incredible community for us. Our first Sunday there, we were shocked by how many people intentionally went out of their way to meet us and make us feel welcome. Having just moved, we knew there was something special about ZF when it was the only church our kids wanted to go back to. Now that we have been there for several years, we continue to be so thankful for the grounded biblical teaching we receive, the integrity of the current leadership, and the genuine fellowship and culture of authenticity that is fostered here. People at ZF genuinely love Jesus and love one another. This is a wonderful church to be a part of! The sermons teach the Bible and how it applies to your life, the music is God-honoring and uplifting, the Pastor and elders are welcoming and helpful, and the people are genuine. There are small groups, Bible studies, as well as children's Sunday School programs so that each person can grow in their relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a church, please come visit, check out the website, or listen to our services in the archive on the website or streamed live on Sunday mornings! We found this church looking for VBS for our daughter and we were so welcomed that we have stayed and become a part of their family! Both our children (ages 2 & 5) look forward to each and every Sunday! And the sermons are fantastic! They are more like a class setting than just sitting quietly while a preacher tells us how much of a sinner we are. 😊 he relates the bible to everyday life.
