After 18 years of wedding photography, I think I have photographed every church in Detroit. Sts. Peter & Paul has always been my favorite. So much so, that when it came time for my wife and I to get married, we happily joined the parish and chose it to be our church as well. From a photographic standpoint, the church is beautiful. Long aisle, balcony, large windows, grandiose altar...something about the church creates a humble, quiet reflection when you are there. We love photographing weddings here because the bride and groom actually face the congregation! This is so nice because the ceremony feels more intimate as you can see their reactions and witness their experience. The music! Julie does and INCREDIBLE job with the music. Many times I find myself tearing up during the ceremony, moved by the sentimental background of music. Fr. Gary is truly a humble servant and leader. His homilies are always heartfelt and catered to the couple. Even the marriage classes were insightful and helpful. Lastly, the outreach programs that Sts. Peter & Paul have to help the local unhoused truly shows the core nature of the church: to serve. Coming to mass here is like going to grandma's house - an always warm and welcoming event. I can't say enough about how wonderful this church is. Whether you decide to get married here or are looking for a new parish, strongly consider Sts. Peter & Paul. Beautiful church on Jefferson in downtown Detroit. Classic pipe organ amazing altars and ceiling. Absolutely gorgeous. We are visiting for a wedding. Very special church and venue. Plenty of parking behind the church. Huge windows. Haven’t gone to service but visited during a candle 🕯️ light concert- it’s gorgeous Beautiful candle light quartet playing disney movie songs. Just what we needed. Jesus and Disney. Doesn't get any better. This church has given me a nice Clean place to shower. Washed the filthy clothes I was wearing, and fed me some really good food until I was full. The volenteers are always smiling and friendly. The staff members do a great job assisting everyone who comes. At least 100 people a day. And they do this every day but Sunday. Thanks Benny. We need more people like You!
