What visitors say
I absolutely love this church experience. Pastor Greg does a wonderful job of explaining the Word and teaching right out of the Bible. The worship music is concert level! Absolutely outstanding worship music. I used to attend a Catholic Church so I was nervous to go into something different than what I was used to but honestly this has been a wonderful experience. This has been my church home for 14 years or so? I'm not good with dates. Let's just say I was a mess in many ways and I expected them to work some kind of magic or make Jesus fix me and if they didn't then this was obviously a game. But somehow I always walked out feeling better than I came in. They very well could have said ya know....you're too much. But they didn't and stuck with me with encouragement to get my act together and finally surrender to Jesus and let go because I wasn't doing a great job at controlling my life...at all. It took many years of struggling, asking questions, denying, rolling my eyes, arguing but I kept coming back and finally surrendered and allowed Jesus to have control. Even though some knew that I wasn't fully in, I was still welcomed every week. Finally something just clicked. The sermons are always rooted in scripture and explained in a way that applies to today's world. I got baptized here and even though I phase in and out of attending I will always call The Crossing my church home. I'm not perfect, but I am on a MUCH better path thanks to what I've learned here. Thanks to everyone who stuck by me thru the dramatic darkness and helped guide me to the light. I was a mess on a road to complete destruction....but God. Edit: Before my husband and I got married, I told him that I attend The Crossing sometimes and his response was "dont ever invite me because I dont believe in it and I'm never going". I finally convinced him after telling him I dont like sitting alone but I also am not great at socializing. Now? He comes with me when I do attend and he's on his 2nd round of reading the Bible and doing daily Bible reflections all thanks to The Crossing. The Crossing does teaching well. What was disappointing for me and my family was how difficult it was to *actually* connect with people. Despite regularly attending, joining classes, going to events and making an effort to talk to others, we could go a whole Sunday for weeks without having a conversation with anyone. Attempts to talk to leadership with questions or needs you get passed to various staff or told you should try a class. People generally seem focused on their existing friend groups. Pastor Greg frequently pauses to tell people talk to each other about a quick question during the sermon but in our experience 99% of the time people are sitting there talking to nobody or to their spouse. Same thing with greeting time. There are lots of opportunities to sign up for things, but programming alone doesn’t necessarily lead to connection here. For a church this large and organized, the social culture felt surprisingly closed off and impersonal. Not a bad church, but not the easiest place to find connection if you’re hoping to build relationships and have biblical community. We love attending here! They give a beautiful service filled with the Holy Spirit. The music is very empowering and the message is right in line with God’s word! Thank you, Jesus, for giving us The Crossing! This can be a one star or a five star depending on your personal tastes as far as churches go. Some neutral words to describe it that can be taken one way or another - very theatrical, jokes, timing, tone inflection, often follows a distinct pattern. Music is bombastic and draws much attention to the artists. Sometimes takes 47 minutes before you hear one piece of scripture. Feels anonymous. Hard to get involved - Many barriers to even volunteering. Hard to find anyone to talk to - like really talk to - kind of get passed from person to person and then they feed you into their class system. None of these are inherently good or bad. Robust kids area, one of the best. 22 year old me gives it five stars. 44 year old me prefers more discipleship and scripture.
