If uplifting music and leaving church feeling good about yourself are your top priorities, then this church may be exactly what you’re looking for. That appears to be its primary focus. The environment is highly personable, from the pastor at another location streamed in on a screen to the enthusiastic greeters at the door, the vocalist that looks like she's convulsing on stage because she is supposedly "feelin' the Spirit" and the friendly congregation of mostly college kids that refuse to let you in the car line to leave after service (yes, this is sarcasm). BUT hey...they have a nice looking campus. However, if you’re searching for a church that delivers biblical truth with weight; that is truth that convicts, challenges, and occasionally makes you uncomfortable, this may not be the place. While encouraging, feel-good messages certainly have their place, relying on them most of the time does a disservice to a congregation’s spiritual growth. Christianity is not meant to be a constant self-affirmation exercise. Sometimes the message should hit like a ton of bricks, prompting real self-examination and a deeper commitment to growth in one’s relationship with Christ. You may not always leave feeling uplifted and that’s okay. In fact, that discomfort is often necessary. To suggest that faith should never challenge or confront is to misunderstand Christianity altogether. And in a community like Oxford, where many could benefit from hearing hard truths rather than comfortable ones, that distinction matters. Chip Henderson inspires me with his commonsense approach to applying & practicing biblical truths & disciplines to our daily lives. 1 of the great things about Oxford is there's a church on almost every corner. So, if this isn't the place for you ~ there's another place just around the corner. Love worshipping here! Jody is awesome. Pinelake Oxford has it going on. Go to early service if you want a seat. Big beautiful church. Very welcoming to everyone. Sunday morning has 3 services. Lots of activities as well. Awesome church!! I've visited twice while visiting with my daughter (attending Ole Miss Law) who attends regularly. Perfect for all ages, but directed at the college crowd. Worship team and pastor are amazing. Everyone is welcome. Parking is a bit crazy, as well as leaving. But there is plenty of room inside. Usually offer coffee and donuts before services. People are super friendly and helpful.
