Visited once recently in fall 2023. Extremely welcoming and friendly congregants. However, was shocked at the preaching, which was horrible — and very political. “Not social Justice but Biblical Justice…” etc etc. Right-wing evangelical extremist talk. I found it so offensive that I left before the sermon was done. The pastor kept repeating over and over the same points (didn’t follow the outline given in the bulletin at all) and the sermon went on for far, far too long without delivering a message other than what I perceived to be his frustration about feeling like Christians are on the losing side of the culture wars. Really odd juxtaposition between the warmth of the one-on-one interactions before the service and the tenor of the sermon. Also was taken aback by their rules about communion, which were not biblical. I lived overseas in various places for quite a few years and— whether in the U.S. or abroad,— always look forward to sharing in the Lord’s Supper with other Christians. However, the bulletin made clear that I, as a baptized and practicing believer and follower of Christ, was not welcome at “their table” serving the Lord’s Supper unless I was a church “member in good standing” What happened to us not needing a mediator between God and man other than Christ? I was a longtime member of another local church but left last year due to concern about political messages pervading worship and advice coming from leadership. What about those who just moved and don’t yet have a new church home? I really wanted to like this church, as it is in a very convenient location and I was a dedicated member of my Presbyterian church when I lived in Philadelphia for 10 years. But, sadly, I was very disappointed. My family and I became members of this church six months ago after visiting all of the other PCA churches in the area. The teaching is phenomenal and it is clear that the pastors spend a lot of time preparing for each sermon. The church also works hard to equip members with gospel knowledge through great bible studies. The greatest asset of this church is definitely the sense of community and family. Members are willing to go above and beyond to care for each other and we noticed this right from the start. Christ Our Hope Church is a great example of Christian community and we are so grateful that God provided a place for us here. I have been a member of Christ Our Hope Church for 20 years. It has been a great church for our family as our kids have grown from babies to their 20’ and teens now. While no church is perfect-filled with a bunch of sinners, I have found nothing but a gracious, loving community that has only wanted to help build me up as a person, mother, and wife. If you are wanting a church community where you can grow in Christ then you will find it at Christ our Hope. My family went to this church 10 years ago when we lived in North Carolina until a move out of state sadly took us away. The relationships we built are still some of the most precious we have. We have been back a couple of times over the last couple of years. The pastor, Scott Cook, who planted the church is a man who loves the Good News of Jesus, loves people and is committed to seeing Christ formed in their lives. The Spirit of God is present in this church: in the preaching of the Word, the Sacraments, in the love the people have for each other and their community. Planting a church is no easy task. It requires faith, patience, endurance, wisdom and a great deal of teamwork. No one plants a tree in their yard and expects a fully mature blossoming tree by the next season. It is really cool for me to return to this church and see how that little tree planted 10 years ago is now becoming a healthy, blossoming and maturing tree. No church is perfect. The bride of Christ has spots and wrinkles but she is the beloved of the Father bought with the precious blood of Jesus. This church would be a great home for any person who senses their own brokenness and need of God's grace in their lives. I am so proud to see how God continues to work here! My wife and I have been attending for about 2 years and have found this a great church. We were looking for a church that had a strong bible believing message and good music that we found upbeat and worshipful. We found all this and much more. The church has taught us what true Christian community is and we continue to grow in this Christ honoring church.
