CGC is a collection if diverse people from different backgrounds and ethnicities who come together to worship Jesus and experience community. It is a smallish congregation with a huge heart for people, for God, and for the community of Beaverton and greater Portland. They are welcoming, casual, and real people. The people here are very kind. There's lots of fellowship at this church. They are a community Church I go to the Baptist Church that is at the same place. There are 4 different churches that meet there. I have always enjoyed going. Solid Multicultural Bible believing community I had a horrible experience with this church. I spent approximately six months as part of this community. At first, people seemed welcoming. Over time, however, I experienced repeated mocking, exclusion, disparaging comments, and increasingly hostile treatment, both directly and behind my back. Eventually, I sent church leadership a strongly worded email addressing what had been happening. Their response was to contact the police, send me a cease-and-desist letter, and hire private security to prevent me from attending another service. I sent polite goodbye emails to several people whom I had believed valued my presence in the community. I did not receive a single response. Afterward, I watched a livestreamed service in which I believed a pastor made joking references to the incident. Several members of the congregation laughed in response. After everything that had happened, watching that was particularly upsetting. I came to this church looking for community and initially believed I had found it. I left with a very different impression. Based on my experience, I would recommend looking into one of the many other churches in the area.
