We had our wedding ceremony at this church and it was beautiful! Very spacious for all our guests and a great space for a nearby church to our location. The staff was helpful and worked with us closely to help us make this day great! We are very thankful for this church and being able to use their space for our big day. Lovely place of worship. Very open, welcoming, supportive and spiritual. Preacher Greg rocks! And we love the more laid back culture that still exudes love, inclusion, grace and a heartfelt approach to religion. In addition, aesthetically, it's a beautiful church and serene setting in the woods and nature, which lends itself to reflection and prayer. This is a lovely place to have a wedding and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to have their wedding ceremony in Austin. We had a great experience working with the staff and would come back again in a heartbeat! I came for a bible study and wound up staying for the sermon and having fantastic and meaningful conversations. Jeff is a natural story teller and understands how to make folks feel connected to one another through Christ and through the words of his sermon. Everyone is seeking the same good here and you can feel it bouncing off the walls! I am moving out of state, but hope that I can find a congregation as amazing as this one with that move. I would recommend to any person looking for genuine good without a single pretense, Shepherd of the Hills will fulfill you on Sunday and help connect you to the peace that God grants through this wonderful community. First and foremost, this church is incredibly welcoming and inclusive. They will embrace you with open arms regardless of your personal beliefs, sexual orientation, creed, color, gender identity, etc. This is not the type of church that will judge you. They also aren't there to indoctrinate you or try to convince you to convert. They aren't trying to fill a quota; they're just happy you're there. **Brief update: Since lockdown, they have made services available to stream live on Facebook. It's 2022 so the church is open again, but now you also have the option to watch (& even participate to a certain extent) from home.** My parents started taking me here almost 30 years ago, and now I can't wait to take my own child. The community is so open & welcoming that I truly didn't realize people used religion as a means to judge and tear others down until I was older. The ministers give amazing sermons, and as the new wave of younger ministers come in I see that same approachability that makes each sermon interesting & easily understandable. You'll be totally involved & rapt in their message (no pun intended). And you won't have to worry that anyone will notice you nodding off because you'll truly be interested in what the minister has to say. The congregation is so kind, warm, and will welcome you with open arms. I've attended many difference churches, synagogues, mosques, etc with friends, in other cities, & for religious studies courses in college, and very few rival the warmth and inclusivity of Shepherd of the Hills Christian Church.
