What visitors say
First time guest, extremely disappointed in the lack of scriptures prominence here. The “podcast” variation of this church has left my spirit hungry after visiting. They played a short video with a narration of scripture, then completely work through their own understanding - as teaching. Not a single verse was presented after, unless being referenced by someone’s story. The beautiful people on stage had touching testimonies and Godly wisdom, but I arrived to hear the word of God. Not sit through what appeared to be a public small group conference. Additionally, they have women pastor(s) who exercise teaching authority over men. It was very unsettling in my spirit to be a part of that. I say all this with love and respect, women have their necessary roles, but God created them with a divine purpose to help. The original Hebrew in Genesis calls Eve “Ezer”, meaning “helper”. A body of flesh and spirit, meant to assist Adam, because he was deficient until God made Eve. This does not make women less, but equally important, God refers to himself as “Ezer” in Psalm 115:9-11. The Lord is surely not less than man. With the authority and responsibility falling upon Adam’s shoulders as the first creation in Gods design; Paul writes what he did in 1st Timothy 2:12-15. I say all this with love and respect. If you are inclined to this church behavior, then please continue attending. Yet if you read this and it unsettles you, attend and see for yourself without judgement. They deserve that right, but I pray for repentance here. After just one month, our family has found our church home at Hillside and we couldn't be more certain about that decision. What stands out most about the pastor is his authenticity. He's not putting on a performance. He's genuinely himself on stage, breaking down scripture in a way that's accessible and meaningful. That kind of realness is rare and deeply refreshing. But the moment that truly sealed it for us happened this past weekend. A kind mom I'd met reached out to let us know the kids would be performing. We had missed the email, and she even sent a link to the lyrics video with the motions. I played it for my kids to help them prepare, and immediately my children were singing along. My 2 year old, especially, looked like he'd been rehearsing for weeks (even though he wasn't even going on stage). That kind of response, that quickly, says everything about the love and intentionality poured into the children's ministry here. The fruit is already showing, and it melts my heart. We also got to experience a more intimate worship setting with three people leading, and it was genuinely beautiful. You could feel that every person on that stage was there for the right reasons, not for a performance, but to point to God. That authenticity carries through everything here. If you're visiting with kids, I'd encourage you to register online before you come. The process is simple and so worth it. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome, and the quick tour we received made all the difference. This was truly an answered prayer for our family. A church where Jesus is preached. Pastor Pete reads the word and explains what the bible is saying in a fabulous way. Easy to understand. He does it as solid as ever. The church also expanded their childrens building, its amazing. When we parked we were immediately greeted a d loved on. Welcoming faces everywhere. One of the most welcoming churches I’ve ever been to. Everyone is so friendly and excited to meet you. My kids have never been more comfortable anywhere else which is such a great feeling. The preacher is a genius. The church is the perfect size. Small enough to get to know people, large enough to have classes and groups. We love it One thing is sadly, the woman who is singing who plays the violin should perhaps considering retiring from the singing part. I am sure she has had a wonderful career however the younger singers are amazing and the overall spirit of the moment is diminished by the contrast of her voice and the angelic qualities of the other singers. This is the way of the world at times and she should allow them to shine. Besides that, we love it and will keep going.
