What visitors say
I can't say enough wonderful things about Neartown. The people are just amazing, and we've made some of our best friends here. This is also the church I was baptized in a few years ago, and now the one where we are raising our sweet boys to know and love God. If you're looking for a church that is warm, inviting, has great music, believes in fostering strong community inside and outside the church walks, and will help you strengthen your faith, come check us out! We will save you a seat! My husband and I started attending Neartown Church in January 2019 while we were dating. We had been searching for a church where we could find genuine community after feeling disconnected at our previous church. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and quickly found meaningful relationships with other families and members of the church. That same year, we became Mission Partners, and Neartown quickly became much more than just a place we attended on Sundays—it became our church family. Since then, we've been married, welcomed two children, and have continued to grow in our faith through the incredible leadership, biblically grounded sermons, and authentic community that Neartown provides. What has meant the most to us is how faithfully our church family has walked alongside us through both joyful and difficult seasons. They supported us through the loss of my father, celebrated and prayed for us during both of my pregnancies, and lovingly organized meal trains after the birth of each of our children. Their care, generosity, and willingness to show up in practical ways have been a tangible reflection of Christ's love in our lives. One of the things we love most about Neartown is the way people truly do life together. The relationships we've built and the support we've received over the years have been invaluable. We are deeply grateful for this church and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a church that faithfully teaches God's Word, invests in its people, and fosters genuine community. I’ve been attending Neartown for a little over a year now, and it has been a tremendous blessing in my life. The teaching is Bible-focused and always points back to Scripture. Pastor Russell is engaging, welcoming, and has a way of making each week’s teaching both understandable and applicable to everyday life. As a young professional with a busy schedule, it’s easy to get caught up in work and the demands of life, but attending church here helps keep me grounded and focused on what truly matters. One of the things I’ve appreciated most is the community. I’ve made some great friends and have had meaningful opportunities to serve both within the church and in the local community. It’s encouraging to be part of a church that not only teaches the Bible faithfully but also puts its faith into action. If you’re looking for a welcoming church with strong biblical teaching and a genuine sense of community, I highly recommend giving it a visit. As a husband, dad, and business owner, I was looking for a church that actually teaches the Bible and feels more like a community. Neartown was totally that. From day one, everyone was extremely friendly and real. The teaching is solid, practical, and actually from the Bible. It’s more like a family than just a place to show up on Sundays. One of the top reasons I greatly value Neartown Church, is the Pastor (and I’m honored to also call him a friend) Russell Cravens. He’s a strong leader BOTH inside and outside the church, and it’s obvious his priorities serving people and helping other churches in metabolized Houston neighborhoods find faith WOTH Godly leadership. He doesn’t just focus on numbers or building some huge church organization. Neartown keeps that personal vibe where everyone’s known, cared for, and can easily find help (rather you think you need it or not), which is very rare these days. If you want a church with solid Bible teaching, real relationships, and leaders who actually care about people, I’d definitely say check out Neartown Church. I’ve been attending Neartown Church for over a year now, and it has been an incredible experience. From day one, I felt welcomed and valued by the people here. The church does a great job of creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable, whether you’ve been walking with Christ for years or you’re simply curious and exploring faith. One of the things that stands out most is the leadership. The pastor is a man of strong character, genuine faith, and a true heart for people. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know him personally, and his leadership, humility, and commitment to teaching God’s Word have made a lasting impact on me. If you’re looking for a church that is biblically grounded, friendly, authentic, and focused on helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus, I highly recommend Neartown Church.
