Attended Services for a great friend Curtis Bernard Wilson, June 27, 1959-May 21, 2026. A great friend and walked his faith journey to the end. It was a Great Celebration of Life. First time attending service. Let the usher know ow when I entered. She guided me through the process smoothly. I will be back for a Sunday visit. My friend always bragged on the fact that his Pastor Devaugh Sr. was a Man of God, and also a close friend that dispensed invaluable advice throughout his tenure on this side. Well done my faithful friend.. Rest Into Paradise. First impression to be very honest the greater did not smile or seem friendly not at the door but the ones in the sanctuary entrance I was surprised at that. Pastor Vaughn was excellent as usual. Since then I noticed the greeters smile much more. I’m very interested in joining. I truly love this church as a child I'm 37 now I went to this church three days out of the week Bible study, youth choir etc. There is even video of me at church service in the choir the year of 2006. Jared Greed and I had a duo dance routine. I would cry when I couldn't attend. I have been a member for over 20 yrs. I really enjoy the way my pastor teaches and breaks down the word to us. He is truly a man of god. I enjoy my Silverlake family. I’m a member of Silverlake Church and recently returned after taking a four-year break due to raising my young children. This morning 6/1/2025, I attended the 8 AM service with my oldest, who is four years old. I truly enjoyed the service, although I had to leave a little early. Before leaving, I stopped by the Kids Center to ask about enrolling my children so I can fully participate in future services. I was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Tasha, who was incredibly kind and helpful. She answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable with the idea of placing my children there during service. I also inquired about the Christian Academy, and she recommended I stop by the INFO Desk for more details. At around 9:20 AM, my daughter and I went to the INFO Desk, where three women were standing. When I reached the front, one of them directed another to assist me. She looked up and asked how she could help. I explained I was looking for more information about the Christian Academy. Her response was, “Do you have internet?” I said I do, but that I was told to come here for more information. She replied that she didn’t know anything about the program and asked who told me to come. When I mentioned Mrs. Tasha, she picked up a phone and said she would be speaking with her to ensure people are given the correct information. She reiterated that I’d need to look online, as all the information is there, but what stood out most was her dismissive and rude tone. It was disheartening, especially with my daughter watching—this being her very first experience at church. Unfortunately, the interaction left such a negative impression that I knew I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving my children in a place where someone with that kind of attitude represents the church. I had hoped to receive helpful and welcoming guidance about the academy, but instead left feeling upset and discouraged. I won’t ever be approaching the INFO Desk again for assistance, and I sincerely hope no other visitors have to experience what my daughter and I experienced.
