📣📣📣 Updated after attending So..... My daughter lives here in San Antonio; I'm from California. I have been looking for aChurch that I could attend when I visit. I was scrolling through the ones nearest to my daughters place and came across a One star review. It had to do with his disapproval on tithing and the way the Pastor delivered it 🤔 And that was my deciding factor ...... this will be the one that I am choosing to go to tomorrow AND I am bringing my Grandson🙌🏻 It took me alooooong time to get comfortable with tithing and truly understanding the biblical practice. The giving and understanding gifts we are given to live out the obedience of what God is asking of us. Not only to thank him for the provisions he has provided us with but also proving that he can trust and bless us with more so that we are able to give more. I've seen it time and time again when people are convicted and then get angry the church or the pastor giving a sermon on the topic. Currently, my church back home in California, @shepherdchurch in Porter Ranch has been going over the same topic for weeks.... and I'm loving it! I welcome a church that convicts me and make me a little uncomfortable ..... we are supposed to have those conversations to be better. SEE YOU TOMORROW! And for the gentleman that left the one star ...... I'm going to pray for you so that your heart, ears, and mind are open to understanding and receiving the Glorious lives of the good Lord has in store for you when you listen to him and are obedient....... God bless you! 🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣 📣 NEXT DAY… (continuing my review) I returned the following day, and from the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was genuinely welcoming. The parking team, greeting team, and hospitality crew were all kind, attentive, and intentional—small details that truly set the tone. (And yes, the coffee was very appreciated ☕️) Before service even began, I was blessed with a meaningful, heartfelt conversation with a woman who attends this Church that made the experience feel even more personal. Worship was powerful and spirit-filled, and the message resonated deeply—one of those moments where you feel it was meant just for you. I also had the opportunity to personally thank the Pastor and Worship Team which meant a lot. While visiting my daughter out of state, I was hoping to find a church that felt like home… and I absolutely did. My spirit was full, and my heart was grateful. Journey Church was truly the right choice 🙌🏻 Thank you and God bless you all! I started attending Journey Church in late November 2025 after leaving a small church with an unhealthy, legalistic environment. I was looking for a church that was more established and organized, and Journey has exceeded my expectations. The preaching is solid and practical. I feel like the pastors do an excellent job of combining humor with Biblical truth. For instance, Pastor Tre's recent message about how peace reigns in the middle of noise (not by removing it) was exactly what I needed to hear. The worship is authentic without feeling performance-driven. What really stands out is the healthy leadership culture here. Pastor Mike called me within 24 hours of my first visit and actually remembered my name when I came back. They even cancel the last Sunday service of the year to give volunteers a break and let families spend time together - that's church-life balance done right. Coming from a performance-based spiritual environment where burnout was almost a badge of honor, Journey's grace-based approach has been life-changing. I can receive without guilt, serve from overflow when ready, and say no without being guilt-tripped. If you're in (or coming from) an unhealthy church environment where you're expected to put the church's needs above your own, I promise you'll find rest here at Journey. Grace instead of legalism. Health instead of burnout. Authentic community instead of performance pressure. The 11:30am Sunday morning service works great for my irregular schedule. If you’re looking for a church where you can come as you are, you’ll enjoy your visit at Journey. The pastor delivered a messaged that did not align with New Testament doctrine. His message to tithe felt inauthentic and poorly delivered. Pastor Trey spoke at our winter retreat this weekend. He was great, and truly connected with our kids and parents. We saw some incredible life change. Pastor Trey mentioned we should check out Journey since we're in San Antonio for Christmas. We did, and we're so glad. The worship was amazing and the people were so hospitable. We wished we lived closer, because this would be our church. Pastor Trey is a great youth pastor and I know his students loved being there. Check out this church if you're looking for a great home to learn and grow. Love this church. A great start to a New Journey in life
