I had the blessing and honor to attend Pearl Street Church today. Amazing worship! I got to witness a few out of many Baptisms in one day. Great message and preaching of the word of God. If you're in the San Antonio area, consider this your home. 💚 Last weekend we attended the service. The whole service was about tithes. There are good sheep of Jesus You try to have people to receive Jesus BUT you teach the Bible with a huge inconsistency. You teach about GRACE but at the same time ask attendees, members,,, to comply with TITHING which is from the **Law* “membership”. It is NOT Biblical AT ALL. It was created by men for men’s interest, manipulation and way to get things $ It is a big reason why there is not much growth there Why the people is reluctant with tithing?? Simple answer: because after Jesus, it is NOT supported by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is in each person by the faith in Jesus, by grace we are saved, Not by the Law. Keeping you insisting with the mono-topic in Tithing, it does not allow your congregation to have the grace of Jesus acting without limits in your organization. It is your choice but please stop misguiding the sheep’s, IF you really want to have freedom for the Holy Spirit to act, if you really want the revival. IF you really want to live in the Grace of Jesus, STOP taking parts of the law. It will not work IF you want to keep living in the Law of Tithing, the Bible indicates that then you have to comply with everything about the law. Are you in compliance? It is for you to answer yourself. Asking for Tithing, the Bible also states that you have to be in compliance with (are you?) Deuteronomy 14:28–29 (KJV): 28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth ALL the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: 29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest. Galatians 3:10 “For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, ‘Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.’” For people who really received Jesus as savior and Lord, everything that we are and everything that we receive from God , **belongs to God**, NOT to you, not to your board of directors or not to your organization DO NOT FORGET & not mislead, Every person who received Jesus is a representative of Jesus, of God, not only you. It is biblical supported. Galatians 5:4 4 Those of you who are trying to be justified by the Law have been cut off from the Messiah.[a] You have fallen away from grace. Revelations 22 (KJV) 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Luke 10:3-9 “3 Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. 5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. 8 Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. 9 Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ Instead, based on the Bible, based on the grace to have received Jesus, ask for support to have the wages for the laborer, the “laborer deserves his wages”. Are you aware that you may have and are limiting to 10% the full Grace of God to growth in the fruits & Gifts of the Holy Spirit ? There is,at least, left 90% of Gods plan for your congregation not possible to be fulfilled because you have set your own limits taking parts of the law that does not work with Gods’ Grace. It is sad I go to church here and I really like the messages delivered. The Pastor always is approachable and consistently ready to engage with other members. Thank you for everything you're doing for our community! I especially need to thank Julio on the prayer team. He's credible and delivers prayer in a respectful and professional manner. The lives being changed in this church are too many to begin to count. I found Jesus and was baptized here and my life has changed forever. Not only am I living for Jesus, I get to now contribute to bringing others along to experience the joy of the Lord. I joined a community in the church and we are all following Jesus together. I get to serve in this church with the most selfless, loving people I’ve ever encountered in my life. I found a spiritual family I didn’t have and didn’t know I needed. The Holy Spirit is moving in this church. You can feel it instantly especially through the incredible worship team! Thank you Pastor Brent for carrying out your mission so well. I cannot thank God enough for this church and the people in it! The worship is beautiful . So many good things but , i feel some of the messages come across a little harsh and judgmental and suddenly tale a condescending tone . My daughter had an unexpected teen pregnancy and we love our grandson .It has ben quite a journey of growth in love and faith for our family .We are so glad she did not want an abortion despite her situation but i was prepared for any outcome as it wasn’t my choice . I even offered to adopt him since she was young but thankfully she is a good responsible mom . The greatest lesson i learned was you never know how it is until your in that situation and that’s even being a good Christian family . Majority of the time i have respect for peoples opinions but i did not care for how the subject of abortion in a recent preaching came across as placing blame and shame on women . Some men force women to get abortions or try to . Never been through it but i know it’s a reality . Pregnancy is also a males responsibility not just a woman’s . Empathy is putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes which is what we should do as followers of Christ so we can better understand and reach people . Something I had to do to understand my daughter’s situation and possible choices.Toxic empathy is completely different . Brushing rape off as if it rarely happens is very insensitive. We should have compassion for women that have this choice to make after being assaulted. We could never understand how that must feel to say that’s toxic empathy is just cold . If someone that went through that were sitting there hearing that imagine how awful and shameful they would feel . We all have sin and singling gay people out for having a hard time changing or not wanting to is just wrong if you hear their stories of abuse and struggles.. We all had to change or still need changes and need to grow in Gods love and still are growing.I work in an industry with people from all walks of life. By having empathy and showing the love of Christ i have reached many and not once have compromised who I am in Christ . To say it’s toxic empathy seems harsh . After years of visiting this church off and on and hearing a few messages turn like this . Its just disheartening and why after all i’ve been through in ministry i wont join a church anymore . at times but i also understand no church is perfect and many churches still don’t understand when they are singling gay people out in the preaching is the reason they won’t come to church majority i ask will not come even though they love Jesus they feel condemned . We are all sinners and compassionate Christians are still not many .I’ve heard messages about these same topics given in love and not judgement while still speaking truth .It was very contradictory to what i’ve heard from this church and its vision .
