What visitors say
I’ve had a terrible experience with this church. I’ve tried being forgiving and focusing on God but I want a community and after a year of attending this church I still know absolutely no one. Typical cliquey church Gospel grace is such a beautiful community of kind and welcoming believers who are followers of Jesus. The pastoral team remain true to the Bible, and in that, we are fortified by God‘s grace. During my first attendance, coming out of the Catholic Church, I felt like I had oxygen for the first time in my life. There ate no theatrics, but rather joyful worship of the triune God (father, son and Holy Spirit) and thoughtful, enriching, educational sermons based strictly on the Bible, God‘s Word, I was there 2017 for my internship from DC. Hopefully, looking to move back and join the church and maybe settled back in SLC for good. I attended this church today for the first time in four years and, to be honest, I left feeling disappointed. With everything going on in the world—and especially in light of the recent tragedy of Charlie Kirk’s assassination—I felt like there was a real opportunity to speak boldly about the importance of spreading Christianity now more than ever. Unfortunately, that message wasn’t there, and it felt like our congregation missed that moment. I’m fairly certain that hundreds, if not thousands, of people probably stepped into a church for the first time today because of Charlie’s influence. That’s why I felt it could have been incorporated more into the sermon. It was such a unique opportunity to inspire and strengthen people’s faith, but instead, I left wishing I had felt more uplifted and encouraged. The pastor also said, “let us pray for the people that are upset about the shooting,” which struck me as an odd way to phrase things given the circumstances. I want to be clear: I don’t write this out of anger, and I don’t have any hate toward this church. But I also don’t feel spiritually filled or led to come back after today. God Bless. The music is wonderful and the sermons are great. My biggest issue was the community. I went here for 2 years and only 2 people ever knew my name. People leave as soon as the service is over and its hard to connect with anyone. They promote weekly small groups but with my schedule it would be hard to connect with anyone. Church leadership is very welcoming but the congregation was definitely in their cliques.
