Capital Community Church is the most welcoming, nurturing, family oriented, genuine church home that does an incredible job displaying the love of Christ as well as their commitment to showing up for the community. Every time I come here I experience a powerful move of God and leave changed. Wonderful staff and members who have gone out of their way to provide a nurturing environment. the church has not only hid my previous review addressing their greed but also deleted a response they drafted where they said it was to combat "crime" so allow me to use the scripture here for a second: This church has chosen to allow towing in a low-income neighborhood — under the pretense of “security and maintenance.” In doing so, it has aligned itself not with Christ, but with oppression, economic cruelty, and the abuse of power. Let’s be absolutely clear: this is not godly behavior. This is not love. This is not justice. This is exploitation. Many of the people impacted by this decision are already struggling. people doing their best to survive in an uncertain and trying economy. Towing their vehicles isn't just inconvenient; it can be catastrophic. It means losing the ability to get to work, take children to school, reach healthcare — or simply live with dignity. “Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.” — Proverbs 14:31 This policy is contempt dressed up as care. And the removal of previous critical reviews only reinforces what this is really about: control, not compassion. “Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people…” — Isaiah 10:1-2 You can’t preach about Jesus — who ate with the poor, healed the outcast, and flipped the tables of the greedy — while enabling policies that crush the very people He stood for. You can’t sing songs of mercy while your parking lot becomes a trap for the vulnerable. “You have dishonored the poor… Is it not the rich who are exploiting you?” — James 2:6 If your “security” measures only target those who cannot afford your exorbitant charges for passes , then what you’re really protecting is power — not people. Jesus didn’t die so churches could become agents of economic punishment. “You have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy, and faithfulness.” — Matthew 23:23 “Do not exploit the poor because they are poor… for the Lord will take up their case.” — Proverbs 22:22-23 To the leadership of this church: if you care about being a true light in this community, reverse this policy. Stop hiding behind maintenance and start practicing mercy. Because until then, your actions preach louder than your sermons. As a fairly new resident to the area, relocating from PA to VA. I found to be very distasteful that a, "Community Church" would be hustling the Community. This is in my opinion, a Biblical sin. The ridiculous fees to park in their parking lot was my first red flag. However, I convinced myself, because I'm so desperate to find a Church home, to visit anyways. The entire service was about paying tithes and offering, and rebuking members who chose to pay theirs elsewhere. Even my kids were uncomfortable because of it. Yeah, for me and my house, it's a "NO." WE ARE LOOKING FOR A HOLYGHOST FILLED CHURCH, PLEASE. IF ANYONE HAS ANY RECOMMENDATIONS. Its a wonderful church with wonderful people! I am glad I joined this church! I find it incredibly distasteful for a church to be charging a parking fee. Very unwelcoming and unchristlike. Mark 10:25.
