What visitors say
Several of our houses back to the Community West Church property. At night, it looks like a landing pad for UFO'S with all the lot lights on, supposedly at 50% intensity. The lights are disturbing and disruptive to our living spaces, health and quality of life. We (several neighbors who are impacted) asked the church to do something multiple times and initially they replied "Hi! We are required to have lights by the county before we can occupy our building. We are trying to work on settings this week to ensure they turn off at some point in the evening and will be on a timer. We apologize for this inconvenience while we work through this." CWC did not keep their promise. The lights are on EVERY night and spill into our houses and lives. The lights are so bright that we don't need night lights for the bathrooms or bedrooms at the back of the house after dusk. We are forced to buy black out shades to mitigate the light in our living spaces. One of their trustees asked if we had blinds. Blinds can't and don't stop the light. Now we're told by Community West that they will have the lights on at 50% to combat vandalism. Guess what, vandalism isn't the only thing the church is combatting. We may not attend CWC, but we're a part of the community. We live here 24/7. These are our homes. We're here 100% of the time. CWC is here twice a week. What about love thy neighbor? There's No Hate Like Christian love. All the pictures were taken after dusk without a flash. The pictures are from my daughter's bedroom, master bath, inside the house, outside the house and of our once tranquil yard. A yard we no longer enjoy being in. We're in light hell. My attorney said, "It looks like a prison behind your house." My neighbors and I have lived here 10-25 years, long before the church was built (2022). Maybe on Sundays the church can pray about a solution so we can enjoy our houses and sleep without the lights disturbing us every evening and all night long. COMMUNITY WEST CHURCH, STOP LIGHT TRESPASSING ON OUR PROPERTY AND LIVES. Posting in support of my former neighbors. We've lived on the other side of the fence from the church too. We recently sold our house and moved. We complained to the church about the lights as well. To say the lights were intrusive would be an understatement. It's not isolated to one property. The degrees of intrusion vary, but a number of us are/were affected. When I contacted Community West Church, they said they were under no obligation to create barriers between our properties and the church. They also said it wasn't in their budget. I once told my neighbor that "Yes, the lights last night felt like a torture tactic they use on prisoners of war." The people along the fence between the church property and the houses have lived there long before the church built their building. One neighbor for about 25 years and their house is impacted. The neighbor in question for almost 10 years. We were there for over 10 years. The church certainly did not respond to us or our neighbors in the way I expected them too. Doesn't the bible say the second great commandment is "Thou shall love thy neighbour as thy self." If Thou shall love thy neighbour as thy self does not apply here, when does it? This Church was recommended by several members from a Bible Study group. Upon walking through the door I was feeling a little nervous as I would walking into any Church for the first time. I immediately felt the warmth and calmness while I was being greeted by many smiles. That was many years ago and I still enjoy seeing those smiles. I may get the longest commute award every Sunday but I know I don't have to go to Church. I enjoy going to this Church and feels more like coming to a family gathering. Such a wonderful and welcoming faith community. I’m sorry to hear about the lights and believe the church is doing and will do whatever they can to help the neighbors affected. Working together to help the community and neighbors will take time and I believe it can happen. I have worshipped here once. I loved the worship and the message. Great community church. Blesses the neighborhood several times during the year as well as every Sunday.
