What visitors say

The Gathering has become so much more than just a church to me—it’s home. As a musician and singer, worship is a huge part of my relationship with God, and the praise and worship here is absolutely incredible. Every week, the worship team leads with excellence, authenticity, and a heart fully focused on Jesus. You can truly feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, and I leave every service feeling refreshed, encouraged, and on fire for the Lord. One of the greatest blessings has been getting to know Pastor Jon. He’s the real deal—genuine, humble, and deeply invested in the people God has entrusted to him. No matter how busy he is, he takes the time to connect with people, and that personal touch means more than words can express. The biblical teaching is solid, the people are welcoming and loving, and there’s an authenticity here that’s hard to find. This isn’t about putting on a show—it’s about creating a place where people can encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. If you’re looking for a church where the Holy Spirit is welcomed, the worship is powerful, and you’ll be loved from the moment you walk in, I can’t recommend The Gathering enough. I moved to Arizona from NWI this past year. I was conflicted about seeking a church here due to many reasons so I watched my home church online. In recent months I realized my family was often distracted including myself Wednesday and Sunday mornings. So I decided to seek out churches in the neighborhood. I met two moms at the park one day. Both told me about their experiences with different churches in the area and recommended the church they were attending Gathering was one. My daughter attended a few services of another big church but didn't feel the connection due to the Pastor being televised instead of in person. Which is no problem it's not to shame any church. Another local church I watched the service on YouTube at first and felt a nodge to attend. I was greeted outside but once instead it felt like a cold room with everyone giving me weird looks. Honestly I've never had that experience. At first I thought it was due to race but seeing ppl my race I just took it as everyone isn't welcoming. Even when the Pastor mentioned shake your neighbors hand, no one turned towards me. I never went back. So I decided to take a month before going to another one. I felt discouraged but not defeated. I thought about the mom who told me to try The Gathering Church. We decided to attend Sunday service three weeks ago. Honestly it was the best experience I've ever had with church. I was welcomed by everyone at the door. A young lady named Heather greeted me and show me to the area for sitting, even after service she approached me to see how I enjoyed service bought some gear. The Pastor is awesome! He connects bible scriptures with experiences we face in life with great notes to look back on and reflect. He's funny but serious about making sure we get the word clearly. I pick up on everything, I've never felt anything negative from him or the church. The youth Pastor was awesome as well. My children have attended the group sessions for young adults and middle school age. All good things. My children enjoy services as well. By the third week I was comfortable bringing my entire family. My son was cared for and happy after picking him up from childcare. That's a plus! I was able to hear the word and not worry. Thank you Gathering. I'm happy God has placed you all with a building to continue pouring into the community. Not to mention, when I have my Gathering gear on I'm approached by members in excitement to share their experience with the church. All positive. First-Time Visitor I visited this church for the first time this past Sunday. While the church promotes lively, family-friendly programming during the holiday season, my personal experience left me uncertain about returning. I was greeted and shown where to go, which I appreciated. However, when I approached the pastor after the service to introduce myself and my family, the interaction felt brief, distant, and unwelcoming. A tap on the shoulder felt more like a signal to move along than an invitation to connect, which set the tone for me as a first-time visitor. I am intentionally seeking a church that focuses on biblical teaching and the Word of God—without political messaging—and that models unity and genuine inclusiveness from its leadership. While the environment may appear welcoming on the surface, I did not personally experience the warmth or sense of belonging that would encourage me to return. Love this place! Just started going and plan to join some ministries. Highly recommend! A church my family and I call "home". We love this church and the biblical teachings that come with the Sunday sermons as well as the amazing youth ministries!
