This church is open and affirming, meaning that it welcomes people of all backgrounds and identities, including those from the LGBTQ+ community. It strives to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can worship and be themselves. As a queer person, it can be difficult to impossible to find a church that feels affirming. FCC Burbank is a safe and invigorating space that not only preaches through a framework of liberation theology, but actively works to live that out in the Burbank community and beyond. I attended a Burbank Community Band Halloween Concert here. They are fantastic!! It is great that the Church supports the community in this way. So fun. Such talented people. It has been around for 80 years. We discovered this wonderful church after moving to southern California from the bay area. It has become our favorite church ever and we’ve been going 70+ years. The congregation is so welcoming, kind and sincere. The pastor approaches scripture with intellectual vigor and historical context and makes the gospel of social justice and equality real. He is very caring and relates well to everyone. This church is open and affirming to all people. They have ministries to the community as well as to the congregation that are very meaningful. There is a nice diversity of people of all ages, national backgrounds, races, genders and orientations. Highly recommended as you will find community, ways to serve and a lively church family.
