On Sunday, Jan 18, I came back to my church for the first time in over 10 years. I’m usually disheartened by the number of attendees who go for the aesthetic rather than to truly follow Christ’s message. Unfortunately today felt no different. Someone abandoned two puppies at the church around 6pm. We tried to notify services and anyone coming in and out of the church to find them a home. We even let the father know before the 7pm spanish mass. We barely got an acknowledgement. It’s not anyone’s responsibility but it’s disheartening that in two hours no one could offer tangible help. I went home and brought them a blanket and placed them in this box for others to watch. We’ll find a way but I’m posting in hopes we learn to come together as a community and focus on practicing what we’re preaching. Blessings to the few people who stayed and watched them. Proverbs 22:9 (New King James Version) Attended the 10 am Sunday service here on my quest to visit all San Diego County churches. It was a basic Catholic service experience. Finding parking was easy... Plenty of parking spots available here. Vibrant parish, the music was well done, the homily challenged us in a lovingly way. The sermon was tedious; sounding like the priest hadn't cared enough to rehearse it sufficiently. He probably said 'you must fear god in a healthy way' close to 15 times. I found the fellow parishioners to be eagerly seeking direction and comfort and perhaps finding it in themselves while attilributing it to the service. All that gold. What a waste. Nice windows though. First time here to go to church as i visit San Diego.
