What visitors say

My mom is from Louisiana and whenever she visits Modesto, she loves picking random churches to try. This is the one we ended up at tonight. At one point during the service, my sister urgently needed to use the restroom. The preacher was going on for a while, so she got up to step out… and they literally blocked the door and wouldn’t let her leave. They kept waving a card in her face that said something along the lines of “we strongly discourage leaving during service.” I’m sorry, but a grown adult needing to use the restroom is not something you get to “discourage.” We were honestly laughing about it afterward because it was so bizarre, but my sister said she genuinely felt like she was in jail trying to get out. Still trying to figure out what kind of place thinks that’s normal. I love Calvary Chapel Modeto, this is my primary place of worship and fellowship. I love the openness, care, and support of the church body. I recommend anyone looking for a new church to come and visit. Wow! What an amazing place to go and learn about the LOVE of God. Based on God’s Word alone, you will be hard pressed to find a more truth based church in this area. Check out a Sunday service and experience a wonderful community of people who desire to live their best for God. I can not mention the wonderful kids and adult ministries enough as well as the worship is AMAZING! I attended this church for years and ultimately left feeling a lot more hurt than supported. I was involved in a situation with someone the church hired that caused real harm. What has stayed with me is not just the situation itself, but the complete lack of acknowledgment or apology afterward. That absence has followed me and made it difficult to feel safe or welcomed in other church spaces since. I also struggled with the sense that leadership did not truly know or engage with their congregation on a personal level. For me, a church should feel like a community where people are seen and cared for, not just attendees filling seats. This may not be everyone’s experience, but it was mine, and I think it’s important to share for those seeking a genuinely safe and attentive faith community. First time family visitor: Will not becoming back. Came with my family for the firsr time and were asked by door person to leave the sanctuary because I had a child under the age of 10. Later found out this is an adult service. (Not sure what that means) and that kids are a 'distraction' in the service. My wife wept and turned around humiliated in front of people as we moved to the back hall. I never been to a service that did not allow children to attend with their parents, especially surprising that this is coming from a Calvary Chapel church, which has a history of inclusiveness and welcomness. Apart from that that music and sermon was good.
