What visitors say
We left the non-denominational church world almost 3 years ago because of many serious concerns I had with it. We've been members of a PCA church for quite some time now. However, while visiting California, we planned to attend Revival Christian Fellowship in Menifee, a non-denominational church, just to try it out. When we arrived, I was already bothered that the first thing you see is a merch area outside leading into a bookstore. But what happened next genuinely shocked me. As we walked toward the sanctuary, the greeter stepped in front of us, put his arm out, and stopped us from entering because we had Caroline with us. He told us children were not allowed in the sanctuary and said we could either put her in the kids ministry or watch the service online. I am absolutely mindblown that this happened. I cannot comprehend how a church can justify something so unbiblical. Scripture commands parents to bring up their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. We are to teach them diligently throughout the day. Our children should be sitting with us under the preaching of God's Word, learning to worship alongside the covenant community—not being sent away to childcare while the adults worship. This modern trend of segregating children from the corporate gathering has always deeply concerned me. But refusing to even allow children into the sanctuary takes it to another level entirely. I pray that God would bring true revival—pun intended—to the American church. We desperately need to return to biblical worship, biblical preaching, and a biblical view of the family in the life of the church. This is truly heartbreaking and unacceptable! Always biblically based! My husband and I are so happy to find Revival church.. Pastor John does an exceptional job teaching God's word!! Even talks about the rapture which a lot of Pastors don't. Great service, great church. Bible teaching during the service. Pastor John Miller is amazing teaching Gods word. They have great men's and woman's groups, children ministry through High School. A very strong Bible based teaching an excellent church explaining Bible scripture and a good worship band. Not to loud and very good choice for believers I attended Revival Church again this past week and overall I enjoyed my experience, but not with a few hesitancies. I appreciated that Pastor John spoke from The Word and didn't shy away from corrective topics. The sermon was encouraging and compelled me to practice what was being preached. I loved that they had security walking around during service, and the childrens check-in/check out process was very secure. I felt safe leaving my young kids with them. A few cons were that the sermon, while solid biblically, was a bit short. Even my daughter, upon checking her out of her class, commented on how quick I was done. Secondly, I tend to lean more towards spirit filled churches who operate in the gifts but aren't overly pentecostal or charismatic. While it seems that Revival is ultimately doing the great commission of making disciples, baptizing, and teaching the word. I question how many people out of all who are attending display the signs of those who believe; which are casting out demons, raising the dead, healing the sick, and speaking in tongues. I don't doubt that Revival is a place to get good solid teaching, but unfortunately, it seems to be lacking in spiritual depth that I long for in a church. The kind that brings people (myself included) out of a habit of lukewarm Christianity and into a place of walking in power and authority over the devil. All of this to say, its a good church but maybe not for me.
