I’m not writing this lightly. I was an altar server here between roughly 2003 to 2005 when Sister Angela and Father Bob were still part of the parish. Back then, this church was thriving. There were a ton of altar servers, strong community involvement, and it genuinely felt like a place people belonged. Father Bob, from my direct experience, was someone I respected and trusted. He was present, approachable, and played a meaningful role in my life growing up. Being an altar server here was one of the highlights of my childhood. Years later, I ran into former members and was told that Father Bob had been removed under allegations of misconduct. I can only speak from my own experience, but I never witnessed anything inappropriate during my time serving. Hearing that, and then later finding out he passed away, was honestly upsetting. Over time, and after reconnecting with people who were around back then, I have come to question how everything unfolded and who was involved. Certain names, like Alicia, kept coming up in conversations about that period and the direction the parish took afterward. I will not claim to know every detail, but it is hard to ignore the patterns people describe. Fast forward to now, my experience with the current parish has been completely different. I recently reached out to get a form signed so I could baptize my daughter at the church we attend now. My entire family has roots here, baptisms, communions, years of involvement, so I did not expect any issues. Instead, I was told Father Clarence was too busy, and the process was essentially stalled. At the same time, I was encouraged to just do the baptism there instead. That did not sit right with me. On top of that, there are already public concerns out there about Father Clarence’s leadership. There is a Change.org petition titled “Remove Father Clarence Saldua from Our Lady of Lourdes” that outlines complaints from parents and members of the school community regarding his involvement, communication, and relationship with the school. Anyone can look it up and read it for themselves. Between my own experience and seeing concerns like that publicly shared by others, it paints a very different picture of what this church used to be. The overall atmosphere now feels closed off. It no longer feels like a community. It feels like unless you are already part of a certain circle, you are on the outside. That is not the church I grew up in. What used to be a welcoming, community driven place now feels like something very different. And for those of us who remember what it was, that is honestly hard to see. I am sharing this because I remember what this church once was and I know it was better than this. Good church 7 am mass everyday Chinese Mass starts 5:15 pm on Sundays. Welcome to join us! Such a loving welcoming church! Thank you for the beautiful Christmas mass and open arms welcoming. We'll be coming to this church from now on. Merry Christmas to everyone ❤️ I went yesterday at 2pm. After mass was done, my family and I asked the priest if he could bless us because we are going on a trip this week. Very rude of him he stepped back as if I was I was going to attack him, and he said no I can’t do that for you almost in a laughing matter and walked away without looking at us. My family and I felt very bad and are wondering if the Asian priest is like this with everyone or not, but it was extremely rude of him, will not forget and will not go back.
