I attended mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on a Sunday morning. The church was not packed with people, the atmosphere was very welcoming. The mass was celebrated in English, and the priest gave a very inspiring homily. I was impressed by the beauty of the church and the warmth of the parish community. I would definitely recommend attending mass at this Church if you are near Ocean Beach and looking for a beautiful and welcoming church to worship in. Attended a close friends memorial service here, The experience was as good as it could be considering the circumstances. There’s a great little meditation garden specifically dedicated to passed loved ones in the back of the courtyard between the church and the gathering hall. Observed the church providing free food to hundreds in the community with looks ofjoy on their faces. Truly lovely to know that kindness thrives in such a cruel world. Hours posted out front, daily mass, fantastic community dinner on alternating Tuesdays, and a sturdy frame for prayer and meditation. I love this church. Fr. Billy is excellent, loves sports, and believes the people in the seats are the church. He does not stand behind a podium and reads a homily at you. Instead, he comes down to the congregation and talks to us and with us. He is what the church needs more of.
